  • Halleluia... I finally found what I was looking for..

I finally found what I was looking for... Low carb ice cream.

It is a Safeway brand. Called Safeway SELECT Watch'n Carbs Ice Cream. They come (at least what I have seen so far) in three flavors, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate and butter pecan. Nut yet in my nuts rung, but I guess I can go with the vanilla bean for now..

It is sweetened with Splenda, the vanilla bean has 3g net carb/half a cub and the others have 4g carbs. You can check these out on Safeway web site, just search for the keyword "watchn carb".

I have already checked the Vanilla Bean ingredients and they look fine, not sure about the other flavors though.

    Anybody tried these before?

That's one of the biggest things I miss from the US. I found it in Rocky Road, too.

        DITTO!!!

When I visited my sister in the US two years ago, I went crazy over low-carb ice cream. I always had a serving at the end of lunch and dinner and I whooshed 5lbs in a week.

We don't have low carb ice cream where I live, and I've been watching out too. Hopefully we'll get some soon!

We get them here, but they have alot of lower fat milk ingredients, and sugar alcohols so they're fairly high carb for a small half cup serving, and you have to really watch the serving size because of the sa's I wish i could find one just sweetened with splenda.

I usually buy the s/f fudgcicles made by Chapmans, they still ahve sa's but i know 1 bar is 1 serving..so i find it easier to control myself!

I had this in Butter Pecan last night, and thought it was great.

I wish the Canadian safeways would carry it! I have to try making my own. Maybe I am lucky we don't have it, ice cream has always been my downfall

Re: Halleluia... I finally found what I was looking for..

my mom went and bought low carb ice cream a while back, it was breyers carb smart and it said it was made with splenda and only 4carbs a serving. however, its made with milk and has nuts in it. That, and my mom has a very bad habit of sitting down with the entire tub of icecream and eating the whole thing. Even if I wasn't still on extended induction i'd probably avoid low carb ice cream mostly just because I don't trust whats in it and whats not, and i'm not the best at catching all the marketing tricks. I mean a while back i bought 'brown sugar' splenda, and got all the way home with it before i read on the BACK of the package that it was brown sugar MIXED with splenda.
