  • Stuck and needs some advice?

    I have had a "clean" 14 day induction and finished officially the induction phase just 6 days ago. I started at 145lbs and now weigh 132lbs. That is a total of 13lbs lost during the induction phase. However, For about 2 weeks my weight has not budged. I know the scale is just a tool, but even my measurements have halted completely. I decided to stay on Induction for another 2 weeks as my goal was to get under 130lbs before moving on to phase 2.
    This is driving me nuts really. My ketosis stix have always been between moderate to purple and over the past few days have been dropping and showing lighter and lighter each day. ( same time each day).

    My meals are induction friendly. Not one cheat. Examples of my menu are:

    Breakfast

    1 egg
    1 Turkey Sausage

    Meal 1

    Chicken breast or thigh, or steak ( about 3-4oz) always cooked in butter on the grill. 1/2 cup of mixed veggies from the induction list with either a bit of cheese, mayo, or ceasear dreasing.

    Meal 2
    Identical to meal 1 - change the meat

    Dinner

    Mixed green salad with cheese or dressing with rest of my daily veggie salad portion with a small amount of meat, maybe an egg cooked in butter or pouched.


    things that "may be isses" that I can think off are.

    Water is about 5-8 glasses per day.
    Coffee - 3 cups caffinated 1 sweatner each and cream ( 1 TBSP)

    I also find that for some reason my blood sugar is unstable again, yet I haven't changed anything from the start??. I also find that I am feeling hungry especially later in the evening and this is after all the eating. It's like the "fat" concept is no longer working for me or something with regards to making me feel full.

    I have 10 more pounds to go. ( oh and I have been doing moderate cardio since I started and occasionally weights).

    Why won't I move past 132? and Why do you think the inches have stopped. I almost feel BLOATED and no it's not that time of month.

    ( no salts, no sugars hidden......I think I've covered everything and double checked)


    Any ideas??

    It could be several factors, you may not be eating enough, maybe not enough water, I personally think its the caffiene throwing your blood sugar off and making you hungry

      With only 10 lbs to go why are you still on induction? I would suggest moving up the rungs of OWL. many people start losing again just by doing so. Plus you will want to know how many carbs you can have per day and still lose weight - you wont be able to do that on induction.

      Also keep in mind, the less you have to lose the slower it will go away. Don't lose hope - we are all here for you!

        Ya, I know I should, I think I'm afraid too because of this "stuckness". The reason I stayed on Induction is "because" I just hit this brick wall. I am EXTREMELY happy with the 13 lb loss........it's just that I was beginning to feel 'fat" and "bloated" again suddenly hence reason I stayed on Induction.

        I don't know if it's the right thing to do, but I re-vamped my veggies and fats and premeaured all foods and do an induction menu for a good 3 days and drink even more water, cut the cream and sweatner and drink only herbal teas for those 3 days and see if anything change. and see if these little things make any difference. If they do, then I'll know what caused the halt and can proceed into Rung 1 from there.

        Does that sound reasonable to do? Im too afraid to add MORE foods or another 5 grams without figuring out what this bloating is...and the halt on my progress and the see what the Keto strips say during this change over the next 3 days is also.

          I would say you are experiencin the Post Induction Stall Syndrome that many of us experience. Just stick it out and your body will eventually release the weight. It's had some major readjustments to make, so give it some time.

          As far as the blood sugar instability, I'd say that has to do with the very low carb levels you are eating and the coffee. I would suggest that you cut the coffee and increase your veggies.

            Thanks v, I'll try that today. I'll post every thing I've eaten and get the water up and cut the caff. ooooh that will be hard LOL ( coffee)

              Peachy Q - I am experiencing the same thing. I did Induction and lost like 11 lbs and now I have had almost another two weeks with like a one pound loss. It can be maddening especially when my DH keeps losing and he even drinks low carb beer and once in a while adds things like sweet relish or something small like that. I did Atkins in 2004 and was still losing well at this stage of the game. We must hang in there, it will come off. I guess we just need to experiment around a bit and juggle the veggies or protein and see what does it. I think the main thing is not to give up. You are doing well if you are only ten pounds from goal and I am sure that last ten are even harder to get to. Good luck and hang in there!!

                :-( I am sooooooo frustrated. I'm not normally like this with these types of things, but I am and probably should not be posting anything under my negative mood here.

                With my current rut, one other thing comes to mind that has been a real interruption in my diet and that is work. Not sure if anyone else has a schedule like this but....

                I eat at 7 am. Leave for work for 8.
                Start work at 9. Bring 2 meals with me.
                I CANNOT take time away from my work station to go eat until 1:15 and that is ONLY if patients are our need. ( work in the medical profession). We're lucky if we get a whole hour for lunch somedays.
                I woof down my lunch premade at about 1:30 to be back at my station for 2.

                That's 6 hrs with no food. NO wonder my blood sugar is dropping.

                From 2pm, I cannot leave my station until 630. I sometimes woof some food out of my second meal just before I leave work because I'm weak feeling and pick at cold veggies in the car.

                I get home at 8pm, and this is where I eat my dinner. I am sooooooooooo hungry and weak by then. It's not that I've cheated and overate anything, I just can't get this right and it's pilling up on my system I think. It's taking a toll on me.

                The reason I cannot leave my station is because I have a constant flow of patients, phone ringing and I cannot leave the desk unattended. I have to ask an assistant to watch the desk just to go to the bathroom, the attendants are also constantly busy, there would be not enough time to run to the back, heat and woof down something. They are needed at their stations as much as I am at mine.

                I cannot believe HOW MUCH WORK is affecting this. Grrrrrrrrr I want to quit my job LOL!

                Oh Any one else have a schedule like this. I got to get a grip and find a way. These patients are sucking the life out of me and so is my job. i just want to eat when I feel the need too!!
