MY EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST IS THAT THEY MAKE ME ALSO CRAVE MORE AND MORE. tHEY ACTUALLY STALL MY WEIGHTLOSS. I do agree that they are better than having a candy bar.

Have you tried cream chesse and splenda? That's a good little treat but still legal.

It's my experience also that it stalls me, but not only that, it becomes more and more of an excuse to eat those instead of whole foods... I'd say though, they are good in a pinch, I've had one on hand now and then for emergencies!

I think there are some recipes for induction levels in the recipe section for some chocolate cravings. I am currently using chocolate bark although again, I need to back off it! LOL

      Glad you stayed on plan!!

Yes, better to eat the bar and save to diet than to shun the bar go nuts. If you can keep them occasional you will be fine. I eat one maybe 6-8 times a year. My rule is to never own more than one. So if I eat the one I have, I have to wait until I go back to the store to get another. When these things went on sale a couple years back a bought a ton of them - and ate a ton of them.

Also I have discovered a good (for me anyway) food for chocolate. Chocolate flavored Whey protein powder. I just take a little cream and a scoop of protein powder mix it up for a little chocolate pudding. Not perfect, but it does the job for me.

I haven't eaten an Atkins product since I re-started and am losing faster and more consistently than before. I agree that they are better than the alternative when you are in a pinch but I would not make them a regular part of my eating plan.

Yes--Dr. Atkins intended them for EMERGENCIES only! So in your case, I think you made a wise decision to eat ONE, but never buy a box or more than one, like Hudson says. Stick with whole foods. You can make lots of delicious things that don't have ILLEGAL ingredients in them (most bars aren't legal until the higher rungs of OWL because of milk, nut and soy ingredients).

Atkins Nutritionals claims they are "appropriate for Induction" which makes absolutely NO SENSE! Read the label..it says they contain SOY, MILK & PEANUTS. Where are any of these ingredients on the acceptable foods list for Induction They also state they contain 0 grams of sugar alcohol. The Chocolate Peanut Butter bar starts out with 22 total carbs...it contains 10 grams of fiber...this brings the total net carbs to 12...HOWEVER, the label states they are 2 net carbs Confused yet?? Glycerin is deducted and guess what glycerin is....Yup, its a SUGAR ALCOHOL!!! Save your almost $2 per bar and make yourself some tuna salad or a hard boiled egg....You'll be happy you did!!

I have never been able to eat those because I know I wouldn't be able to have just one bite or just one bar. Any amount of sugar (except splenda) triggers a craving for me and I go crazy. If you find it's still triggering a craving just get rid of it. Linda's low carb site has some good recipes that are induction legal. You could also make a mock danish which I love for dessert.

                      Re: Atkins bars

I would eat the food bars, periodically the first time on Atkins, and never had any adverse effects from them. They were used more as an emergency measure, since I was travelling on business alot, and needed a quick fix, once in awhile. As at yet, I have not had any Atkins products, and just sticking to the natural stuff.

What a good idea! Earlier this week I bought a box of five and ate a box of five in the same day. Bad! And my body felt awful the whole day after that. Just be careful with them!

I just don't know about those bars. I remember trying one when one of my co-workers was on Atkins and just not caring for it at all. Perhaps it would taste difference now that I haven't had real sugar for a week and a half but I still think I'll avoid them. What I really want is a large slice of mango....and that's quite a few rungs away. Where's my boiled egg?

                            Re: Atkins bars

I bought some last time I was on Atkins looking for something that I could take with me on the go that would help out in a moment of hunger or weakness. After reading the nutritional info though, (I didn't at the store, I figured since it was the Atkins brand it'd be fine) I made a point to avoid eating them. My kids sure liked them though!

I am like some of you, I only own them one at a time ~ I tried buying the boxes cuz it was cheaper that way ~ yeah, right, I ate them all ~ however many boxes I bought, I ate them all! VERY bad!!! So, now, if we go into town I'll pick me up one ~ not every time though. And yes, they do go right through you ~ OMG!!! LOL!! I think they are fine every once in a blue moon but DEFinitely NOT as a regular part of your diet.
