  • Question about how much I'm eating.

Ok, so we're supposed to eat until we're satisfied and not hungry. So, what if I feel that way at like 800 calories? Is it ok to eat that little if I'm not hungry?

Re: Question about how much I'm eating.

    Short answer is no.

Long answer is also no. You may have to adjust how and when you eat and portions, go with heavier calorie foods if you're having a hard time eating a lot, spread your meals out over the day, eat smaller amounts more frequently.

Depending on your height/weight you really should be striving for 1600+ calories at the bare minimum to avoid catabolism. Yes, ketosis and low carb is fantastic for using fat as a fuel, however, muscle and bone tissue are still more readily available, and if you get to starvation levels, your body will do what it can to horde fats and use other tissue for energy instead.

Find a way to eat more.

You need more calories just to keep your body functioning and working. I eat on average 1500 to 1700 a day. As my weight has dropped I have adjusted my calories down in response.

Good question. I'm a frequent exerciser...60 minutes cardio plus weights 5 days each week and to be honest, I have a hard time eating enough calories. I just read the old thread about BMR and if I'm supposed to be eating between 2036 and 2540 calories each day, I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off. But, my ketostix turn out a positive result.

It's 6:30p here and all I have to show for today is and hour of exercise and two bunless burgers with spinach that has put me at 1100 calories. That BMR thread said that if you eat below your BMR, you'll go into starvation mode and I certainly don't want to do that. It seems for me, there just isn't enough hours in the day to do what I need to do and eat.

Depending on where you are in thios WOE its normal...I have felt that way too many times; and while the idea here is to control our hunger with the wonderful low carb high protein foods we eat, you also need to try to get in the neccesary calories your body requires to function THere will be days when your hungry hungry HUNGRY and days when your not as hungry..make sure you try to eat regularly..every 3-4 hours Min - even if its just a cheese stick and some broccoli..keep those blood sugars even-
Good luck- you can do this- and we're all here for you!!
