  • Braces At 40! Soft Food For Atkins

I work in an Orthodontist office and for some time thought about having braces myself. Well, I went ahead and did it LOL. My treatment is for about a year as my teeth really aren't too bad to begin with , just a little re-alignment is needed.

Now, I can tell you on day two of having braces on, my teeth are tender and it's very challenging to eat LOL. I am just entering the Rung1 OWL.

I can't eat anything hard or crispy, so I have to cook all my veggies, most of them anyways.

Anyone have a great recipes for soup?? I may living off soup for a while and of coarse want to stay right on track.

Congratulation with braces. My daughter have those and it has been the best thing for her. But yeah those first few days are sure uncomfortable.

One of my favourite soups (so far, I am still trying out new recipes) is a soup called New England Cream of Mushroom Soup. Recipe can be found several places on the interent. It has 8 carbs and 2 fiber per serving.

My soup recipe is dead simple and adaptable to whatever food you have available.
Just simmer some water with meat and veg and seasoning/spices in it till they are soft then put into a food processor and wizz it into a puree.

Then add some cream or butter to the consistency you like. You can reserve some of the meat/veg and slice it to add to the soup if you like 'soup with bits in' like we do.

You can also use ready cooked leftovers but the 'stock' will probably need some extra flavour from a stock cube.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Fauxtatoes! I made them this week using 50% celery root and 50% cauliflower, with butter and a tblsp sour cream. The flavour was awesome.
