  • 4 weeks induction 1 lb lost

Well this is pretty discouraging. This didn't happen when I started in Jan. '05. I lost about 45 lbs and kept it off about 1 1/2 yrs..
I am back and I have had no success. It is true I am not walking like I did previously. I guess I'll try that. Would love some feedback. I do not use fitday cause I do not understand how to use it . I need to speak with someone and get them to help me look at what I am doing and critique it and tweak it till I am losing. I don't know if it is my age or just what.
I haven't used the ketosis sticks, know nothing about them really. Anyway, your thoughts and encouragement and help is much appreciated.

You have every right to be discouraged but please, do not lose heart!! This way of eating has worked for you and it can again. Something in your daily intake is not quite right. There are many veterans on these boards that can check over your daily food intake and give you some suggestions. RE. the ketosis sticks, I just went up to the pharmacist and asked if they sold them. They cost me about $ 9 maybe for 50. I would also encourage you to read some of the journal chats and stats. These are regular people who have been in the same place that you are starting, discouraged and fed up with being unhealthy. Listen to their stories. They struggled too!! I believe that education is half the battle. Read as much as you can and get moving and drinking LOTS of water! There is nothing like that feeling of seeing those scale numbers come down and feeling that energy when it kicks in! KEEP AT IT !! You will win!!

Thanks Carb Addict for your warm encouraging response. I hope to find out what it is I am doing wrong and get moving forward. The first week I was told I wasn't eating enough so I upped my intake and it didn't help. I need to know what to do.

      Thanks again,
      Joy

Re: 4 weeks induction 1 lb lost

You have listed a 20 pound weight loss goal for this time around. We can all expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose. 5% of 20 is 1; 10% of 20 is 2. So you are right on target.

Think back to the weight you lost the first time around and try to remember what your degree of metabolic resistance to weight loss was.

Also if you haven't been exercising---start doing it. And keep track of your measurements in addition to the pounds.

Hey Megs, thanks for your response. I do not know what my metabolic resistance to weight loss means. I lost most of my weight in the first 3 months, then in 3 additional months I lost the rest. I lost at least 5-8 lbs the first 2 weeks though. I do not know what to change about the food. If you'd like to pm me and help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Here's a link to a table which shows the degrees of metabolic resistance and how to interpret them:

You need this stuff for the second phase. Also, you might want to read the 2002 edition of the book (you should find it at any library if you don't have it) or at least check the Atkins website: http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkins-phases.

Thanks El. I knew it was low just not familiar to chart.
0 lbs first 2 weeks. Only lost 1 lb in 4 weeks. I lost a lb the end of 2 weeks came back week 3 it is gone end of week 4. I guess I'll get the ketosis sticks. I also know there are tips I was never privy to and would love to know some of the ways people have found to make this WOE lifestyle work and be very successful. I just know their are secrets. I checked online and many people are trying to sell those secrets. The thing is who knows which one if any are true and effective.
              Thanks again,
              Linda

Maybe you would like to post your current menus in the Review my menu forum again, Joy?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Please post some of your menus so we can see what you are eating. It will be much easier to offer suggestions.

                    Hi Joy1:

Don't get discouraged!!! Try not to concentrate on what the scales tell you - but what your clothes and body are telling you. I personally don't like to weigh myself all that often as I get depressed - I don't feel like the pounds are coming off - yet I notice a difference in my clothes - the are baggy (hard to imagine - but true).. also other people are starting to notice the difference too. I also have a high metabolic resistance.. but with faith I know this will work for me (and you too). You had success your first time around & if you stick to the plan you will have success again!

Track your inches lost too!! Dont get discouraged. Sometimes we see lots of inches off before the weight loss comes along!
