  • chicken question.

    hi,

I pulled out chicken for supper tomorrow nite. Still on induction. As I recall, chicken skin was full of carbs? I shouldn't eat it and just toss it?
    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

I'm sure I read that in some previous versions of "diet revolution" or whatever Atkins books were called........

Make sure you are reading Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition. It was the last book the good doctor wrote before his death and thats the book we all use as a reference.

chicken skin is not only tasting but is a great source of fat - dont fear the meat

skin is good, covering it with flour is bad. The carbs are in the flour but poultry doesn't have carbs.

Only organ meats, chicken liver in particular, has carbs (and worth it ) The rest is all protein, fat and water. Enjoy!!

              Re: chicken question.

If you buy precooked chickens this is when you should keep your eye out. Alot of times, preroasted chickens have been marinated and do have carbs in the skin (i know costco's does_...but as said above, chicken skin is fine!

                Re: chicken question.

Almost all grocery store rotisserie chickens have bad stuff in the marinade. And, frequently, many of them dust the birds with flour and then marinate them. (Sam's does this). Be leery of the skin on pre-made chickens.

However, if you get raw chicken and bake it or grill it yourself, the skin has NO carbs and LOTS of lovely fat! Yum, Yum!

No commercially prepared fried chicken is EVER allowed. The skin has flour as breading and the meats are frequently pumped full of marinades (with sugar or high fructose corn syrup or something like that).

Does anyone know how many carbs the chicken skin has from Costco?
