Re: I'm so discouraged
My story is very much like yours. I started my first induction in 2002. My first time I stayed at induction level carbs for several weeks then started adding other foods. I just didn't do owl correctly as I started adding rung 3 items (berries) when I should have been only adding rung 1(more veggies). This time is something like my 4th restart. I never seem to get past induction just blow it after a few weeks. I have not really ever gone back to the old way of eating just not really doing Atkins right.
This time I am going to do it right and you can too. I use Fit Day to track my fat, carbs, fiber and protein. I also think too much protein stalls me and might be part of your problem. I am currently keeping my protein to no more than 80 grams per day. Any more than that turns to glucose. Here is a good article regarding how to caluclate how much protein we need. I was stalled for 3 weeks following my 2 week induction. During induction I kept my net carbs around 15, this week I added more veggies and cream cheese and cut protein from over 100 grams to 65grams to 80grams. I have lost 2 pounds this week. Yellow cheese seems to stall me as do nuts. I am really going to restrict those items this time around.
I really intend to get to maintenance this time. Like you, I am tired of being fat and tired. Doing OWL by the book is the secret to continuing weight loss and learning what we can eat so we can maintain our weight loss when we reach maintenance.
Hope this helps. We can do this!
