Re: fast food
I've done that in emergencies. My issue with that is that a lot of their burgers has little to no veggies on them. I will get a side salad to go with it. When it comes to fast food I prefer wendy's - lots more food options
F 24 5'10 SW - 217 GW 170 restarted atkins 1/14/08 - This time I'm sticking with it!

Re: fast food
my advice is pretty simple:
You're trying to lose weight. DO NOT EAT FAST FOOD.
Maybe after you've been on the diet for a while and you're in a pickle and need somethign quick..... but don't try and lose weight, habitually eating fast food for lunch every day.
You're trying to lose weight becaue you have lifestyle problems - you need to FIX those, or any weight loss you acheive will come straight back on.
Eat REAL food. Actual, real food. Excuses about a 'lack of time' mean nothing - other than that you're not committed to lose weight. It takes five minutes the night before to pack a salad with tuna.
What you're eating is not high in carbs - but you're rotting your insides. Now is the time to get HEALTHY.
(I'm not trying to be rude, but i really think everyone needs to rethink this whole 'lose weight whilst eating crap' thing. It will make you feel SOOO much better in the future).SW: 140.8

Re: fast food
Gotta agree with the advice from others here... Atkins says go ahead, eat fat, but I'm pretty sure if he were responding to you, he'd say the same thing as Dotultimate... choose good fats. Fast food is a sure way to fail.
FatBottomGirl makes a really important point as well, about the sodium. I just did a one month personal study on how sodium intake impacted my weight loss. High sodium intake resulted in a stall or weight gain about 36 hours later so if you don't want to be totally deflated next time you step on the scale, make good choices when it comes to your fats. It took me about three months to figure that piece out, but now I'm cruising along quite successfully.
My Keys- Understand why muscle is one of the biggest keys to successful weight loss.
- Follow my mini-study on how high sodium intake correlated almost one to one with weight gains on the bathroom scale.
Successs In Progress
Here's basically what I'm doing to average a 2-4lb loss each week:- Free Weights M, W, F 40 minutes
- Cardio T, Th, S 90 minutes
- Average Intake=1300-1400 Average Expenditure=3200
- Low sodium (attempting - it's really tricky!)
- Grazing Approach
- Use of vitamins and whey protein isolate
