Should I be counting the carbs in my Benefiber?

If there is sugar, yes. The fiber doesn't count as a net carb because we don't digest it. Have you tried flaxmeal as a natural alternative? There are a lot of recipes on the board to help you make it a tasty introduction to your diet.

Okay, this is confusing. I've been taking benefiber and it says 4 carbs 3 fiber 3 soluble fiber or something like that but their no sugar in it so were is that extra carb coming from *looks confused* I like flax seeds but due to allergies I am laying off all seeds of any kind until my body levels out enough to test them. Why was induction so easy and rung one so hard I'm running out of carbs because it's all getting sucked up with list 2 veggies and cheese and suppliments. I just want to cry!

I just looked at it online and I see your confusion. Worst case you count one carb, right?
Are you still in ketosis? Choose some lower carb veggies sometimes to give yourself some breathing room?? I dunno what to say. Maybe a more experienced Atkineer can help you out.

          4g carbs total - 3g fiber = 1g net carbs.

Sometimes on labels you will see the fiber broken down into soluble and insoluble fiber. What the label is telling you is that of the 3g of fiber in your serving, all 3g are SOLUBLE fiber, and 0g are INSOLUBLE fiber. If the label said

          3g fiber
          2g soluble fiber
          1g insoluble fiber

          ...total fiber is 3g. 2 + 1 = 3.

I just took a look and think that's right. The thing has 4gms of carb - 3 are fiber and all 3 are soluable. Hence, I think you count it as 1 gram. 4-3.

            Good Luck!

It doesn't matter if the fiber is soluble or insoluble, the body does not digest fiber, and therefore all fiber is to be subtracted from total carbs to give you NET CARBS. Dr. Atkins says to only count net carbs.
