  • Sleep and weightloss

I was reminded of this after not sleeping well and seeing no change in the scale, followed by a huge drop after a good nights sleep. There is a strong correlation between sleep and weight, if you stall or are not losing, look at how much you sleeping as well as all the usual suspects. Here are two links but when you do a google search there are literally pages of articles and research. Sleep is as important as water and exercise IMO.

Good links to post - thank you for them, Q

One of our (missing) old CC forum members, papajack, used to stress the need for sleep to assist weightloss.

Very interesting. Tks for those links.
I have to say (thank heavens!) that I managed to get to goal despite regularly sleeping less than 5 hours a night.... maybe I'd have gotten there sooner if I'd been a better sleeper.

Hrmm.. I've definately read articles like that before. I get about 4-6 hours a night, so as soon as I can sneak more in, it will be beneficial all around.

            Re: Sleep and weightloss

There has got to be some truth to this, because I notice if I get less than 7-8 hours of sleep I am MUCH more hungry the next day. Since I get up at 6:30 every morning I am trying very hard to go to bed by 10:30, read for a few minutes, then zzzzzzzzz.

              Re: Sleep and weightloss

Interesting. I didn't know it was because of hormones. I just thought that people tried to get their energy from food instead of sleep. I usually get about 7.5hrs but I feel better if I get 8-9hr, but that's almost impossible with small children.

                  Re: Sleep and weightloss

I am having a really hard time getting 8 hours since this WOL. If I go to bed earlier I just wake up even earlier but I've noticed I sleep much better. So if I wake up after 6 hours of sleep, I feel like I had 9!

                      Re: Sleep and weightloss

I also sleep less but better and feel more rested in spite of the shorter sleep since eating this way. It's great - I not only have a couple of extra hours in the day but actually have the energy to use them!! I used to put the alarm clock on snooze 2-3 times before I could drag myself out of bed in the mornings, now I haven't even set the alarm in months - I just wake up naturally and get up pretty much right away.
