  • Which Atkins Book is the Most Recent?

I have the DANDR and have been using that but step two on the ladder in O.W.L just says more cheeses. Now everyone is quoting Atkins for Life saying that the whole dairy category is in the Ladder. I'm so confused. Should I go out and buy the Atkins for Life Book?

My opinion - NO, DANDR is the best. I have Atkins for life (got it on a clearance for $3). The program that works is DANDR.

No...don't buy Atkins for Life. Use only the DANDR 2002 version. The dairy rung in DANDR 2002 includes cheese but has other options like yogurt and cream.

Foods you can eat include (in 5 net carb amounts):

      • Cottage cheese
      • Cream (Whipped, pressurized container)
      • Cream cheese
      • Fresh cheese (Cottage, Farmer's, Pots)
      • Goat cheese (Crumbled)
      • Half-and-Half (Fluid)
      • Hard cheese (Cheddar, Provolone, Swiss, Mozzarella etc.)
      • Heavy cream
      • Heavy cream (Fluid)
      • Heavy cream (Whipped, Unsweetened)
      • Light cream (Fluid)
      • Light cream (Whipped, Unsweetened)
      • Ricotta
      • Ricotta cheese
      • Sour cream

This link provides more detail on the cabohydrate ladder, aligning with program outlined in the DANDR 2002 edition: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...?t=5516&page=1

DANDR is really awful about listing acceptable foods for OWL. In Chapter 14 (Ongoing Weight Loss p.171 in my book) it defines the carbohydrate ladder. A couple of pages later (p.174) the Power of Five lists acceptable foods for rungs through fruits. Then in Chapter 16 (Pre-Maintenance p.201) the Power of Ten lists acceptable foods for rungs nuts through grains.

There are stickies in the OWL forum that coordinate this information.
