  • Fitday vs. Sparkpeople

Does anyone have experience with both of these programs? Can you give me your subjective opinions on which one is better, and why?

I used Fitday for almost a year (a few years ago) and have used Sparkpeople for the past month. When I enter food in both programs Fitday sometimes comes up with higher caloric values. Anyone else have this experience?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm going to be watching this thread as well. Good question because I am having similar issues with fitday and started using grams instead of cups to fix it.

      Re: Fitday vs. Sparkpeople

I did use sparkpeople but didn't compare it to fitday for #'s sorry. I do now use thedailyplate and did for a week compare the #'s when i first started using it and found they were pretty much on track with fitday's. I just find it more user friendly than fitday. It's biggest downside is anyone can edit any food..and since it's a fanatical calorie counting low fat board (with far too many people with ED's on it IMO), no one seems to think protein is important to track so they don't bother to add it when adding a custom food. There's usually several entries for each food/brand name though..so either i pick one that has the protein listed or i just edit it myself. I've twice complained to the mods that protein should be mandatory..no one has listened.

I forget why i stopped using sparkpeople..but I do know i wasn't happy with it.

        Re: Fitday vs. Sparkpeople

I really like CalorieKing -- it's free to look up any food (and has TONS more variety than Fitday), but not free to use it to journal, which I haven't tried.

I have used my-calorie-counter for the past year. It breaks it down by breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It also has a daily target that you can set yourself to see whether you are going over, and has a daily graph that tells you your percentages of fat, protein, and carbs. It allows you to enter custom foods and custom meal plans. I kind of sound like a commercial. LOL

              hi
I love fitday....I don't find it difficult at all. I add in custom foods all the time and I haven't yet found a reason to not like it. I don't really understand where the difficulty comes in for people, but maybe I'm missing something. Sorry, haven't tried the other program you mentioned, but I like to get my votes in for fitday when I can!!
