  • Question about exercise

    Hello all,
Yesterday after the treadmill, I felt fine, took a shower, made lunch and ate about half of it. When I stood up to from lunch I instantly felt nautious, not just nautious but praying to get sick to feel better nausea. I was sick for about 2-3 hours.
I do push myself too hard when exercising, before my car accident and knee surgery it was not uncommon for me to spend 2-3 hours at the gym a night.
It was not lack of water, I had eaten 2 hours prior to running and eating any closer to exercising than that would make me ill for sure.
I just got off the treadmill vowing to take it easy today, but I have those songs on my MP3 player that I just have to run through, so I would say I did that same as yesterday 70 minutes, 4 miles, 460 calories. I am scared to eat, afraid of feeling that ill again.
Just wondering if any of you veteran atkineers have been through the same thing?
I will post stats when I get the chance, I have a 1 and a 3 year old.... they take all my free time.

    Start date 2/24/08
    Start weight 189
    Current weight 178

    Thank you,

    Re: Question about exercise

Are you sure it's exercise related, and not something you ate previously?

      Re: Question about exercise

I agree with Chicklady. I don't think it was the exercise that got you. It sounds like you're pretty used to working yourself that hard. I think its more likely to be what you ate.

General rule of thumb for success: If it requires a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce it, you probably shouldn't eat it.

I had food poisoning two weeks ago and ended up in the hospital. It usually hits you pretty hard and quick so this could be what happened to you. To get back into eating I spent two days eating nothing but dry whole wheat bread. Not ideal but it was all I could keep down. After day three I was starving and was able to get back on track with no weight gain. Just make sure when you start eating you go slowly and eat small amounts.

I thought about that too, I had tuna salad on bed of lettuce, 1 oz of cheese and water. My boys ate some too.. they did not get sick. I am actually feeling a bit icky, not as bad as yesterday. I made sure to get more carbs during lunch today than I did yesterday. However, I will prevail. An upset stomach won't beat me .

          Thanks for the responses!!
