  • day 14 of induction!

It has been 2 weeks! And, I am proud to say that I am 11lbs lighter!!

    Ok, now the question...

What to do now? I have 89lbs to lose still... and being quite honest....I cheated on induction a little bit. I drank alcohol a couple of times, drank diet coke like crazy, and had BAD carbs twice, but only exceeded the limit a little bit.

I feel like I want to start fresh, a no cheating, an do it 100% the right way. What does everyone think? Should I remain in induction, or continue on the plan? I thought maybe I would do extended induction anyway, since I have so much to lose.

Also, I am a diet coke addict. In order to do induction correctly, it means no diet coke, right?

I am just afraid I am going to get bored and fall off, but so far, not an issue. How long can I stay on induction for? My copy of the book is in the mail, I ordered it. I have an older one, and wanted to 2002 "bible"

I think to be honest, you should restart induction and do it clean. Get rid of the diet coke, no cheats, no alcohols.

Plan your ENTIRE 2 week menu in advance, there's a lot of great resources on the boards here for that. Plan your meals, snacks and even water. Go clean, it'll make staying on plan and changing your relationship with food much easier. There's a lot of interesting research showing that diet sodas can still cause insulin spikes in people because your body doesn't realize it's not sugar... your brain tricks your system into having a sugar reaction to it.

Congrats on the weight lost forever.

      Re: day 14 of induction!

Hi, Congrats on the weight loss!

I would do a clean induction and cut out the diet coke and alcohol. I used to drink both daily and completely cut them out and now don't crave the diet coke (or miss it) or fancy alcohol. It stops the cravings for other foods too.

        Re: day 14 of induction!

        Hey there,

We buy the diet coke with splenda in it. It's the aspartame that's not good for you and stalls your weight loss. Diet Rite is also really delicious and is made with splenda. We take in a whole lot of regular club soda as well so I can get my bubble fix. If you don't like the lack of flavor with club soda you can try LaCroix which flavors it a bit without adding any sugar or carbs. At this point I find myself going for the club soda alot when I need a boost or something, but it's nice to have a variety. Also publix's generic brand soda makes it with splenda, but they aren't that fantastic to drink. The (diet of course) lemon lime is perfect, the gingerale took some getting used too but I love it now. Their orange flavor is good too. Their regular diet cola wasn't good for me at all. Diet Rite comes in a lot of different flavors too. Please remember to drink your water as well though! Once you get used to drinking the water you'll find that you crave the taste of plain ole water hard as that is to believe in the beginning. I give myself plenty of options and know that I need to drink water as well and normally I do the right thing.

Definitely try again with no cheats!
