Re: What is YOUR Goal - pounds lost or inches?

What a great, great post. I would have to say that as much as I'd like to be 150-160 lbs its more important to me what I look like. No matter how you try people cannot see pounds. If they did you'd get a lot of compliments when you drop 5-10 lbs.

For me I'd like to get back into a comfortable 10-12. Thats about the size I was when I got married but mostly I'd like to lose a couple of rolls. I'd like a more defined waist and hopefully the boobie fairy will show up and steal a couple of cup sizes and give them to the less fortunate. Toning for me is the biggest thing. So I'll keep plugging away at it and hopefully keep losing.

The problem for me is clothes sizes vary so much from brand to brand, so if I had to choose pounds, inches or a certain size I would choose pounds.

Also, I've lost weight before and my clothes fit me differently each time, if that makes sense. I hope so!

Clothing does vary in size from brand to brand...but 26 inches is 26 inches is 26 inches.

The naked test is what I apply. Not sure what size that will be or inches, It could be a 6 or a 4 but it doesn't matter when I see what I want to see. When the fat melts in those areas I will be happy. I believe that I need to lose 15 lbs more of fat. Time wil tell!!

I think I looked best when I was a size 4, roughly 125 lbs. so whichever one strikes first, i'll be happy

Re: What is YOUR Goal - pounds lost or inches?

              Hi all,

I weigh a lot in terms of pounds and kilos but I am also very tall, nearly 5'9. Everyone around me says that I am not fat. Now I also know how to disguise my weight and people are very kind, but 200 pound is 200 pounds. Also I wear a size ten on top (american or 12 british) and a size 12 jean (american or 16 British). Now for me I know that I am never gonna be able to be a size zero or be a 120 pounds. It is just not going to happen. I believe that when I can see myself in the mirror and be happy with what I see, the pounds and inches will not matter. I say this because, someone can be very thin but not very tonned and visa versa, so the best test is to stand undressed in front of the mirror and like what you see. That's just me though.

Well, I'm judging myself by weight, but as soon as I can fit back into my size 4's, I'll be happy and claim goal. I'm just guessing that's around the 120 mark. Overall it's inches that count!

Excact weight is less important to me than how I feel and look. My goal is more based on what I think is a good weight based on my past. So I'm looking to get to 225 (I'm 6-3), but once I get there it maybe a little more or a little less. In total it would be 127lbs from my start weight.

3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

Re: What is YOUR Goal - pounds lost or inches?

I was always focused on pounds as I had never been thin before and wasn't sure what size clothing I could possibly wear. It was easier to think about than inches when I had never really understood what they meant as far as clothing went. I just knew I had to get the largest size jeans at Old Navy.

Once I got closer to goal the inches became far more important as I started to fit into sizes that I'd never been able to in memory. Was far more exciting walking into a clothing store and asking for pants with 30-something waist rather than telling them I weigh 180 lbs, give me something appropriate (I'm sure they would have laughed me out of the store) It became a huge shock when I last went clothes shopping and realize I now wear the smallest size available in most designer labels (29"). I went from completely opposite ends of the spectrum and that, to me, is more important than pounds lost.

This is probably why you are such a success story in the making. I absolutely agree ~ is what makes you feel and look good.

Regardless of what each of our goals is - inches or pounds.. the good news is both will come off it you give this lifestyle the opportunity.

                      Good luck all!

My goal is definately defined in size... not weight. Though when I hit 130 I am gonna declare myself at goal. I just don't know if that is where I will stop. I know what I want to look like, I just do not know what I will weigh when I do.

I want to be below 200. It's a dream I want to finally make a reality! It'd also be nice to be in a size 18 or 16 again.

I'm 8lbs from my first mini goal. My one sister is around 180lbs and I would LOVE to be that. To finally weigh as much as one of my sisters would be awesome. I've NEVER weighed as much or close to as much as what one of my sisters weighed since we were toddlers.

I have a ways togo but I think I can do it. Strike that I KNOW I can do it.
