  • Clothing Size Question for all Ladies!!!!!!!!!!! I should know this, but I don't :(

I am 5'4 and weigh 272. I currently wear a size 26 pant and 3x top. My goal is 140 pounds. What will my size be at my goal weight? I am so used to being fat and in plus sizes that I really do not know.

    Please help.

Also, could you tell me your height and your current size so that I can get a good picture of the range that I might expect? I know that everyone is different based on genetics, so that is why I want a range. Once I meet my goad I will know what I wear at 140, for sure. But until, then, it's good to have an idea.

    Thanks All

Re: Clothing Size Question for all Ladies!!!!!!!!!!! I should know this, but I don't

    Hello,
I am a size 9/10 right now and I weigh 149. I hae always struggled between 130 and 150. Lat summer I weighed 144 and I wore a 7/8, but just a few years ago around my wedding I was in the lower 130's and I wore a 3/4, and then the weight starting coming on gradually once I got married and 137 I wore a 5/6 and then 144 I wore a 7/8 and now 149 I wear a 9/10. I have only ever gone as hight as a 9/10 if they start to get a little snug, then I jump on the bandwagon. I cant afford to always buy new clothes, so far my strategy has worked. I hope this helps. Good luck

          Thanks Sweetz

This is why this forum is great. My goal was 140 and a size 12. I thought that I was being too hopeful to think that I could be a size 10. Who knows 140 may even be an 8.

          Wow, thanks.

You know being obese has done more to me than just make me fat. It has truly altered my thinking on what is possible. Hopefully, when I lose the physical weight, I will also lose the mental weight.

          Thanks again

Re: Clothing Size Question for all Ladies!!!!!!!!!!! I should know this, but I don't

Its my understanding clothe sizes are based more upon inches rather than weight. I'm 5'10, 193 lbs and a size 12. I'm hoping to get down to a size 10 - no idea how much I will weigh but its the inches that count.

At the start of Atkins I was 220 and a size 16/18
            F 24 5'10 SW - 217 GW 170 restarted atkins 1/14/08 - This time I'm sticking with it!

I am 5'3 and 193 right now .. i agree that it just depends on your body type .. and the brand .. cause i have some pants that are a size 12 and fit nicely and others that are a size 17 and are too tight .. just a different brand..

Hi there. I am 5'2-ish and I remember being a size 9/10 at around 140 lbs...of course it all depends on body composition and bone structure and all that...but atleast you can count on being somewhere near the single digits if not in them

my best weight and where I'd like to be again sometime was 145. I was a size 9. But I honestly think sizes are made different now because I can get into some 13/14's at the moment and I'd think if I can get into those surely 30 lbs different is not a 9? I guess when I get there I'll see.

I totally agree about the body sizes. I personally have VERY small bones and a very small body structure. I am not really short, but when I am thin I look like nothing. Sizes also do differ on me when I am thinner like in the 130's but I have NEVER gone above a 9/10 yet. I think you will definetly be able to be in the 10's if not smaller but everyones body is different

Geez, I have no idea how sizes relate to weight!

I started out at 265 as a size 20/22. I'm now about 170 and a size 8/10. I'm 5'8" and I have lots of muscle from lifting weights which probably explains why I can fit into size 7/8 jeans at 170 pounds. I'm also very evenly "distributed" (I'm not top-heavy or bottom-heavy) so that probably also helps.

                        Funny you should ask.

Because my clothes were falling off me and people at work were beginning to notice (and not in a good way - one made a joke about plumbers' butt) I went clothes shopping yesterday. I'm 5'5" and 154lbs. Every size 10 I pulled off the rack fit me, no matter the manufacturer (I was shopping used so the clothes were all different brands).

                        On me just about every 10lbs = 1 size. So at 145 I'll probably be a size 8. You're 5'3" and you're aiming for 140, so I'm guessing you're going to be about a size 8P (P=petite=clothing with shorter arms & legs).

                        Good luck, keep going!

Thanks all. It hard to imagine anything under my current size of 26. But it's good to have an idea. I need to just stick to the plan and it will all work itself out. Thanks. Everyone.

It really does depend on the manufacturer. I have seen some pictures on here of people who are still significantly overweight, yet claim they are wearing an 8. Let's be real. It's size creep. What used to be a 12 is now an 8, in some clothes. There WAS no size 0 or 2 a few years ago.
