  • TOM and water retention???

Okay I know that we all are different and that some of us retain water during TOM my question is if I am drinking no less then 101.40 oz sometimes more wouldn't that offset the water retention?

I cannly speak from experience, but not for me. I drink at least 128 oz a day and I'm up 5 lbs of water weight this TOM. I feel like I'm retaining more water than the Hoover Dam, but it will come off when my cycle's over so nothing to stress about.

Well I guess we are in the same boat except I haven't gained anything but I haven't lost either and am eating on point and drinking lots of water!! So we'll see next week.

Drinking more water doesn't work for me. I actually take Midol and that helps a lot. Last week I lost 4 pounds of water retention in one day after taking it. It is the first time I used it and it worked well.

Within literally hours of starting my TOM I was up 10 POUNDS!!! total heart attack. It dropped slowely each day but wasn't gone until 2 days after AF was over. It was horrible-I felt so bloated, but the following week I lost 6 lbs so all was not lost-but it was discouraging!

I'm on a diuretic for HBP and I still get the bloat.

                    Hey Spazzyhilo

Gaining weight before and during TOM is normal then? I have gained 6 pounds and I am freaking out. I am suppose to have TOM next week.. Will the weight drop back down after TOM is over?

                      Re: TOM and water retention???

I gain 5-8 lbs at least a week before and lose it again once it's over.

the best thing i've found for keeping my weight steady during that time is exercise.

Help the new girl. What does PISS stand for? I figured out TOM. After my tubal mine has been sooooo irregular. I'm pretty sure it will be here any minute but, I have the symptoms for two weeks before it decides to arrive.

2lbs heavier today. Cramps in the ovaries, headache, cravings....overall SUCKS.

Ok, I dont like this time of the month, I feel so sensitive, everything makes me cry, I havent loss any pounds, well except for the 4 lb that go up in the day and wake up with out them, I had cravings for the first time since I started Atkins, of course baking cookies doesnt help, my legs feel so heavy, and Im so tired right now, but no cramps or headaches, just tired and retaining water. I didnt do my exercises in the morning, I think I will take a nap and after I'll do them.

By the way, what does TOM exactly means?
