  • Loose skin

I know that one of the dangers of losing a significant amount of weight is that you potentially get a lot of loose, saggy skin. So. I wanted to know if there is some way you can avoid getting loose skin. I'll be a poor college student and I wouldn't be able to afford any sort of surgery like a tummy tuck after losing the weight. Does anyone have any tricks for preventing the sag?

    Re: Loose skin

The best advice I can give you is to lose the weight and keep it off now while you are young and your skin is still elastic. Take the weight off slow and steady, eat plenty of fat and drink lots of pure natural water. The more times your weight yo-yos and the older you get, the more loose, saggy skin you will have. At some point, it will get better after time, but will never tighten up all the way.

People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I'm in the same boat (getting ready for grad school) and I already have extra skin from my twins. Don't lose too fast and make sure you get enough fat. That helps a lot. Topical stuff isn't really helpful unless you have dry skin. I'm losing at 1.5-2 pounds a week and try to average 70% fat.

What she said! Lose the weight while you are young and keep it off by making this a WOL.

Rub yourself in Vitamin E cream after your shower ever night. It is the only this that promoted skin elasticity. If not, go to a chemist and get a post-pregancy skin treatment cream to tighten you up. When it comes down to it though, just be happy. Who wouldnt prefer to be skinny with a little extra skin?
