Re: how do YOU avoid cheats?

I really like the jumping up and down idea. It would probably help me. Up to now I have done the drink a glass of water and then see what I think. I usually helps.

LOL! It does work! My family is having popcorn right now. I am taking deep breaths and drinking my water.

This may be really horrible to say but when I was at Disneyland and was craving so bad, I would look at the families eating the junk and most of them were obese. I would ask myself if I wanted to stay like that and give that future to my child. But still! Those cravings were so hard walking by the candy shops. I didn't even touch anything "sugar free" I was too afraid. the hardest part was at dinner and my friend ordered an appetizer of parmesan encrusted french fries and we had been there in the park over 9 hours and were exhausted. I just drank my water really hard.

Social situations are ALWAYS tough however....you all have that ONE friend that tells you that it's unlucky to NOT partake in eating cake at the birthday party, etc. You have to always keep the long term goal in mind though. I keep that ONE outfit in the closet as a goal to staying on track. I see it everyday and it's my motivation. I also find that cooking the things I can't have makes me not want it by the time I'm done. I am a firm believer that smells can be just as filling. Other times, I go for a quick little walk or do situps. Just taking those 5 minutes makes me realize that I'm trading a negative for something more positive and when all is said and done...I end up not wanting what's on my mind or in front of me.

I always have food on me, and I do mean always (it's actually pretty funny. I don't have meals I munch munch munch all day). Second, I make sure my Atkins food tastes better than the food was before I changed to this WOL so I stop wanting that food. Cheating doesn't even become a desire this way.
