  • Sweetener question

I usually (before starting Atkins) used 1 Sweet and Low in my coffee.
I know others have talked about using liquid form of Splenda, would liquid Sweet and Low be similar , and also 0 carbs?

    Here are the details

    Re: Sweetener question

I think most people wouldn't recommend sweet n low because of the chemicals. I used to use it when I was a kid and my mom would always yell at me because as it states "causes cancer in lab rats." I don't use it anymore unless there is absolutely nothing else avaliable but I usually carry my own sweeteners with me.

I prefer splenda if I'm out. They make the splenda tabs that you pop into your drink but I rarely use splenda unless I'm dining out. I love stevia glycerite. It's just about all I use.

I think its a personal choice for what chemicals you want in your body.

dr Atkins didn't like aspertain in any form and recommended Splenda. Splenda use to make a liquid but I haven't seen any lately. Splenda has a few advantages that other sweetners don't. The boxes (not little yellow packs) have been bulked up so you can measure it just like sugar and use it just like sugar. The little packs don't work that way and it is sweeter. Splenda is not carb free, because of the maltodextrin to bulk it up it has about a half gram of carbs per teaspoon.
Personally, I use sweet and low liquid in recipes that call for the liquid sweetner. I use stevia when I eat pain yogurt as I love the taste in it and hate it in coffee, and I use Equal in my ice tea when I have it.
