    Hey guys...

So I made it through induction before weighing in and the freedom from the scale was awesome...

Now, midway through week three (extended induction for a while) I'm semi-obsessed with the friggin scale. No, I haven't succumbed yet, but I almost did this morning.

When I got clean off, um, mind and mood-altering chemicals, there was a period of obsession that died off around three months in so I know that eventually this will too. But it really is running me around these last couple of days. Funny, I thought the obsession would be pizza or sushi or green, st.patricks day snoballs!!!

I guess the scale is just another addiction to break...quit smoking 10 months ago and Sunday is my one year anniversary from all the other "stuff" that shall remain nameless here.

Some scale-related suggestions would be great...

    Thanks,

    Mitch

    Re: scale addiction...

If I could help, I would, but I'm a daily-weigher. For me, its not much of a problem since I don't let the number ruin my day. I just like to see the fluctuations. I'd imagine out-of-sight, out-of-mind would be a good strategy.

You are much stronger than I. I weigh daily as well. The weight it reads doesn't get me down. I use it as a tool. If I gained I take a look at what I ate over the past couple of days. Check my water intake. Is it close to my menstrual cycle. It actually helps me stay on track. I get excited each morning when I wake up. My little scale holds me accountable.

I went about five years without stepping on a scale because I so hated what it did to my mind when I would! I don't think that is the best way because I had no concept of how heavy I was! Now I weigh weekly but I have to really make sure that I don't let it rule me! For the first 6WEC I did I didn't weigh for the six weeks and I've made a pledge with another board member not to weigh for the whole month of April. I think having planned breaks from the scale helps me not go insane. I absolutely don't let myself weigh more than once a week though! One thing that helps me is just thinking about how unreliable the scale is compared to other forms of measuring my progress (pictures, how my clothes fit, inches). If you absolutely want to step on the scale every day to see the fluctuations like philliha said then I think that is fine but just don't let it get into your head! If it is going to get you down then step away!

You obviously have great willpower to have quit other addictions in your life- use the willpower to not let this become an addiction!

I have to weigh daily. I don't think of it as an addiction. For me it keeps me on track and it's fun Some folks take themselves and this diet to seriously. Have fun with it! Besides there's far worse things to be addicted to.
