½ way point check in.
I am primarily a lurker, not a poster, but I have learned all I know about this diet from this forum and the Atkins main site.
I am half way to my weight loss goal.
I am down 32 pounds in 71 days = about .45-.5 lbs of weight loss per day.
My typical diet is all bacon and eggs for breakfast and fast snacks, with a rotating variety of fish, beef, chicken, lamb, a bit of pork, and yes, elk meat for lunches and main meals. Primarily these meats are all grilled with spices and salt. The variety has been the key to keeping from getting sick of the limited choices.
I am eating one of those pre-cut 4 serving bags of mixed cauliflower and broccoli every day. I am taking my vitamins, drinking a minimum of 1/2 gal of water every day (letting the clear and copious rule guide me more than amount.) My splurge is 1 cup of coffee every other day with 1 teaspoon of Xylo Sweet and 2 Splendas per cup. –(my preferred cup of coffee had 4 teaspoons of sugar, heaping teaspoons, 2 cups per morning…)
There are some odds and ends of other veggies, meats and such in the last 71 days ( I went through a shrimp phase) but that is a typical weekly breakdown for me.
So far this is working for me as is. I don't know if journeying through the other levels of the Atkins diet would speed things up but a loss of .45 lbs per day is acceptable and most importantly is doable.
I find I don't crave junk food. I crave bananas and OJ! I have splurged a time or two on strawberries and blueberries (the tasteless Chilean import berries, it being too early for the good stuff) to get the fruit craving a rest-- but always sticking to the "berry rules" as out lined in the Atkins info online.
As long as this continues to work I am sticking to my version of low carb, and hopefully in another 71 days I will be at my target weight of 195lbs.
