  • I Can Make You Thin on TLC

Has anyone watched this show yet?

I watched an episode last night and it was about getting rid of cravings by pinching your thumb and middle finger together on your left hand and thinking about things that disgust you mixed with whatever your craving is. Then thinking about something positive that makes you feel wonderful and pinching the same fingers together on your right hand..and SOMEHOW that works to get rid of cravings? I agree that thinking about mixing worms with chocolate or something will make you stop thinking about eating it, maybe..but how can this work long term? It was just a little weird to me..this one lady was eating 5+ lbs of chocolate a day and in 60 seconds just completely gave it up for months by doing this, I dont think I believe this nonsense. haha

What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

It sounds like a minor self hypnosis technique.

I watched it the other day. I think his techniques are good because they make you stop thinking about the craving and focus elsewhere. I prefer to exercise or drink water when I feel I'm hungry, but I can understand what he is talking about. All weight loss gurus have different methods of dealing with losing weight and getting control over our eating, but they are a lot alike in that they make you stop before you reach for the food with actions instead of eating. The most fun of the show was seeing the before/after results from some of his guests and hearing about their journeys. That inspires me more than anything else.
