  • nut question

You know how even though cheese is quite low in carbs, you are supposed to limit cheese to 3 or 4 oz.? What about nuts? Once you are on OWL and you have reached the nut rung, is there a limit on total nuts per day or can you eat as many nuts as you want as long as you don't exceed your carb total?

The reason I ask is that I've been eating pecans and they only have 1 net carb per serving. Does that mean that I can eat three times as many servings as I would of peanut butter which as 3 net carbs? Confused.

Thank you. Yes, it does help but what a bummer. I was hoping I could eat more.

      Re: nut question

You can only have 1/2 an ounce of cashews per day. Nuts give a lot of people problems, so you have to be careful with them. Page 174 of DANDR 2002 lays it out about nuts. One ounce of pecans has 5.2 carbs, 2.2 fiber for a count of 3 net carbs. That's a lot of pecans. 2 tablespoons of natural no sugar peanut butter has 6 carbs, 2 fiber for a net carb count of 4 carbs.

Hi --- I tend to go nuts with the nuts ( literally ) and find it very hard to have Just one ounce a day . I am now in maintenance and only eat nuts as a treat - if i let myself over do the nuts I gain !

What I do with nuts is to portion them out once I open the bag into one ounces and seal each ounce into a little bag. This makes me aware of how much I am eating of them. BTW I only use unroasted almonds as my nut snacks as I find it hard to limit salted nuts.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
