  • What Did You Eat Today?

    I am new, I lost weight on Atkins before but by mostly eating eggs, bacon, chicken wings, stawberries, and watermelon. I have recently been working out 5 days a week and I was on Weight Watchers but it seems to be taking forever to loose and with Atkins I know I will see results.

    SO do you have any meal suggestions, quick and easy I live in NYC and I am always on the go.

    It doesn't sound to me like you were doing Atkins. And that certainly isn't an induction menu. But if you lost on that then keep doing what works for you.

      Diva, Unfortunately eating meat and eggs and fruits isn't Atkins. It might be considered some type of low carb eating, but it definitely isn't Atkins. Atkins is SO MUCH MORE than that, it's got far far more variety than that. Please don't shortchange yourself or your weight loss effort by not doing the plan as Dr. Atkins wrote.

      I hope you will consider getting the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition. It is such an eye opener when you read the book and find out why and how it works, and all the wonderful varieties of foods we get to eat.

        Well thats why i am here to learn more, I printed up the carb counter and I use to try to eat the lowest carb foods to maintain at my 20carb limit daily. I have been eating healthier and workin out and just wanted some ideas of what I should eat on induction thats all I was thinking of changing from weight watchers.

          Well, everyone's taste is different. Do you have a list of acceptable foods? It should be on this site somewhere. The rule I have is if it's not on the list I can't eat it, Period! Take a look and pick out the foods that appeal to you and go from there. As for me, I love eggs so I'll have at least four a day. I hate salads so I'll use my salad veggies in other ways (omeletes, tuna and egg salad, ect.). It's just a matter of what you like.

                I SO WISH watermelon were one of the Atkins induction foods.

                Do you have a copy of DANDR '02? I read it at night, before I go to bed. Over & over, like the Bible, which it sort of is my diet bible.

                  I always think it strange that watermelon is so much of a no-no when other melons like honeydew and cantaloupe come relatively early on the OWL ladder.

                    Since you asked....here is what I ate today.

                    Breakfast I had chorizo meat scrambled with 2 eggs and covered with a little cheese. I put a little sour cream on the top of it.

                    Lunch was a chicken and veggie stir fry.

                    Dinner was a hamburger patty with some mayo and a sliced pickle. Cut up cucumbers with some sour cream and a small salad.

                    I drank water all day long.

                        My menu was pretty simple today. Wednesdays are always extremely busy around here.

                        Breakfast:
                        Two eggs over-easy
                        Two slices of turkey breast and one slice of colby cheese melted on top
                        Cup of coffee
                        Cream
                        Sweet n Low

                        Lunch
                        Small salad w/ assorted induction veggies
                        Chicken breast

                        Dinner
                        Chef salad
                        Some cheese off the top of a slice of pizza (we went out)

                        I didn't eat nearly as much today as I did yesterday. I'm just not that hungry today and between my children's activities and my own I hardly had time to focus on food. A good thing

                          B: omelet with chorizo & feta
                          S: 1/2 pork chop
                          L: roasted red pepper sections topped with 1 oz melted feta (gotta use it up!)
                          S: chicken thighs (with skin), 1 c mushrooms sauteed in the drippings, a few cloves of roasted garlic; 1/2 cup cooked spinach.

                          I cooked all my veggies today, it's been snowing for nearly 24 hours (where is spring?!?) and I needed the warmth.

                          cals: 1614; carbs: 16; pro: 121 g; fat: 115 g.

                            So far today I had
                            B: Slice of crustless quiche (with cheese, cream, eggs, ham & leeks in it) plus 3 ounces of cherry tomatoes
                            L: (Met my sister for lunch at a Harvester restaurant so had to pick the safest menu item I could see.
                            Half a Spitroast chicken (no chips or corn) with mushrooms cooked in butter and lemon juice as a substitute side dish.
                            Salad (lettuce, peppers & cucumber slices) with Blue cheese dressing (0.6 carbs per ounce)

                            Not sure about this evening as I will be at the gym later tonight so won't want anything heavy - maybe some mushrooms spread with cream cheese or a couple of my blueberry macaroons (only 'legal' on OWL rung 4).
