Re: What do you feed your dog?

Mine get Hills or Eukanuba or Premium, with meat alternated with pasta and meat and veggies. I'd love to do the raw food thing (meat, bone and veg)... not sure where to go to get it all though. Here meat is super expensive and my doggies are HUGE! One of them also costs me a fortune in thyroid medicine
I've often thought that dogs would do better on more meat and less cereal diet, but confess the expense holds me back a bit... I once knew someone who fed his dogs on blood pudding which he got at the slaughterhouse in buckets!!!

Re: What do you feed your dog?

I switched my cat to a barf diet at the age of 8. she took to it immediately. Always wondered if some of the problems with liver disease in dogs was because of the heavy grain diet. Didn't learn about barf soon enough to feed it to my dog, but ms fuzzbutt lived very happily for 5 years on it before she got into some poison in the garage there's a grassfed meat place in texas that also sells meat for pets; that's where I got mine. It was $2 a pound, and that would last 3-4 days, depending if she had a successful mouse hunt or not

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

My cat switches between Wellness and Natural Balance. She loves them both. One's duck and cranberry and the other is Salmon. It gives her a balance of protein. I make sure that she gets what she needs but I don't do any food with corn byproducts...I know it caused a scare a while ago.

I am thinking of getting a pug however and I wouldn't know what to feed it!

My dog, Buckshot, gets one (wet) scrambled egg with meat scraps everyday, and occassional left over vegetables are mixed in. He's two years old and very healthy with a beautiful coat.

Re: What do you feed your dog?

This one hits really close to home....

In January, my cat was acting really lethargic...it was a weekend, so I waited until Monday to take him in. By monday morning, he was in a coma. I rushed him to the vet, and the Dr. said he was within HOURS of death. Come to find out, he had a urinary tract blockage due to crystals in his urine.....

He recovered slowly for a week, but by the end of the week while he was at the vet, he had a blod clot that paralyzed his front leg. Because of all of the trauma of being on the brink of death, he developed a heart disease called feline cardiomyopathy-which is uncurable........

So now, I have to give him regular heart medication...He is doing better. But the culprit was the DRIED CAT FOOD. The cheapy stuff you get everywhere. It has little to no moisture, and is all around HORRIBLE for cats. He was also obese at the time. Since his stay at the vet, he lost a lot of weight and is now in normal range.

Now I feed him a special diet and canned food only. Sometimes I give him a raw cat food diet, because it's all around the healthiest thing......I'm just glad he's still with me
