So I belong to quite a few cooking/food related sites, forums, groups. Not diet related. Every once in a while someone with start a diet related discussion and it's always low fat, low cal. I try to chime in with my thoughts but I'm either poopooed or ignored. (they are usually full of great info but I just can't relate). I mean it's nice to come here and read and talk about low carb but if I venture out in to the "real world" I just feel like a freak
Anyone else feel this way?

Feeling left out
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.
~Orson Welles

Everytime I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego, or dull my senses, I will remember,
That even though I overeat in private, my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.

Re: Feeling left out
This is the real world. There are a lot of low carb recipe/cooking/food sites out there and you won't feel left out with people that appreciate how healthy and tasty this WOE is.
I am writing a low carb cookbook and my skinny family and friends love what I cook. They are delighted to be my guinea pig. My very skinny sister, who hates to cook, asked for several of my recipes after she ate them while here taking care of me after surgery. She has been making the dishes right along. She said that she hadn't had her oven on in several years before she started making my breakfast casserole.

Re: Feeling left out
I totally know what you mean. Especially more now because a lot of people are trying to "diss" Dr. Atkins' WOE. People are just misinformed when it comes to Atkins. It's kinda frustrating when people react negatively when they hear you are on Atkins. It's a good diet and it works if done properly and the way to do it properly is to read Dr. Atkins' book.
Oh well, I guess we'll be waving goodbye to them as we walk down the skinny road while they're way back still trying to calculate points and calories...

Re: Feeling left out
We all feel this way from time to time, but if you focus on educating yourself on eating right ~ it doesn't matter what other people do. Nobody in my family except my husband is pro-Atkins. It doesn't matter to me. It works for me, it shows in my life-style, my choices and my body!! Everyone at my work is low-fat. They offer me goodies all the time, but I happily decline. I don't look at it as they are trying to jeopardize my way of eating, just that they are being friendly. It took me a while to change my attitude about my way of eatin, but I wouldn't have it any other way now that I'm comfortable with who I am, how I eat and my life. Don't let people get you down, instead focus on learning your new way of life and enjoying the positive changes that are helping you to lose weight and feel good about yourself.Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F
