  • Help!! Hubby is stuck!

    Hi All,

Please help, both my husband and I have been on the diet for 4 weeks, I have lost 12 lbs he has only lost 3lbs. We are eating the same foods, he eats a little more than me, he had 14lbs to lose, I had 20lbs to lose. He is getting very dispondent, he doesn't mind going on the diet if it shows results, but at this rate he will shortly give up. I've read all about metabolic resistance and we simpy can't wotk it out. He's very active and doesn't take any medication. I think he is smaller, his jeans are loose and his belt has gone down 2 holes. What's happening?

    Thanks everyone!

Try posting his menu so we can see how and what he's eating.

The closer you are to your goal weight, the slower the weight comes off. Has you moved onto OWL yet? If not the extra veggies on rung 1 might be a big help. You should be moving up the OWL rungs especially if you've already lost 12 of the 20..you should be moving through OWL, adding foods back and preparing for pre-maintenance/maintenance and finding out yoru CCLL.

If his belt is down 2 holes it's obvious that he's losing inches. Has he taken measurements? alot of times the tape measure will show more inches lost than the scale will pounds!

Sadie is right, with only 14 lbs to lose that weight is going to come off painfully slowly. From my own experience, it took me the same amount of time to lose just the last 15 lbs as it did the first 115.

However, that's how the plan is meant to work as the last few pounds should be lost in the pre-maintenance phase while you prepare yourself for lifetime maintenance. Tell him to have patience and make sure he's working his way through the OWL and Pre-maintenance phases otherwise all his hard work will be for naught. Rome wasn't built in a day, as it were.

          Hi,

Thanks everyone, I thought that as he didn,t have much to lose it would take some time. I'll up his carbs for the next couple of weeks and see how that goes. I'll probably still struggle a little, all my carbs come from veg and salad, I love them! So I'm sruggling to increase my intake, I'll just have to hit the red wine!!??

          Take care.
