I really don't like tuna fish. I wish I did, because its pretty cheap and easy to eat anywhere. But the smell and wetness of it grosses me out...I have thought about trying the kind that comes in the pouch rather than the can? do any of you think its any better?? strange question I know. The pictures on the pouch make it look a lot more appetizing...

YES! I cannot STAND regular tuna even in the pouches. But Albacore is wonderful! You can get albacore in either pouch or can but it has a much better texture and smell to me (also tastes better).

Thanks! I'll have to give the albacore a try. Regular tuna literally makes me gag...I'd rather eat my cats food lol but if I like the albacore that would make life easier to have it around in those convenient little pouch thingies. I'll definitely try it out

        Re: tuna

I buy the solid light or white tuna packed in olive oil. The taste and texture is so much better (imo) than the mushy stuff in water, but it costs more too. I know someone here said that they didn't like the idea of the oil because they were worried that it was unhealthy after processing. I don't know, but it sure tastes better to me! Albacore is definitely better a better choice too. It's been so long since I tried the pouches that I really can't comment on them.

I love tuna and would eat it everyday if I could. I always carry a pouch in my lunchbag,(suitcase as everyone else calls it), to work and when I am home I prefer the cans. Mayo does help or I add a few drops of vinegar. God Bless, Joe

OHHH I love Tuna too Joe~

There is a grocery store right across the street from where I work at that has a great salad bar. I go over there just about everyday and get a salad. Well actually I would get a big bed of romaine lettuce and then a big scoop of tuna. YUMMMMY!

Is eating tuna everyday really bad for you? I heard cuz of the mercury in the tuna you shouldnt eat it everyday. What do you guys think?

                  Re: tuna

LaRie I try not to eat it every other day at the most. I've been hearing about the mercury and stuff for years but honestly dont know how harmful it can be. All I know is that if you're eating that much tuna be sure to drink plenty of H2O due to the high protein content. The other day for lunch I made me a breadless tuna-melt. Tuna, mayo and shredded cheddar. Came out Ok. Trying to stimulate me taste buds when they get bored. Best of luck. God Bless, Joe

                    Re: tuna

alright, let me fill you in on my delish tuna....... i never liked tuna until i made it this way.

can of tuna (drain the water)
                    4-6 TBL olive oil
                    2-3 TLB lemon juice
                    1-2 crushed garlic
                    some lettuce leaves

just put the tuna on the plate and put the rest of the ingredients in (besides lettuce) taste to see if you want more or less, mix, then scoop with the lettuce...trust me, you will LOVE it!!!

                          Re: tuna

i basically find canned/bagged fish of any kind disgusting. if i am to eat fish, it will be a chunk of cod or halibut that i have baked myself.. sorry.

i have had good luck finding delicious canned chicken (tyson or the costco brand are pretty good) but they are packed with sodium, so be careful.

Consider trying real crabmeat! The larger the supermarket, the more likely they are to carry it. It's such a nice change-of-pace from ordinary tuna - I love it!
