  • "plain" water question

I know you're supposed to drink plain water each day and anything "added" to water should not count toward your "regular" water intake. Personally I like to drink warm water in the morning. I'm wondering if I add a bag of green tea but no sweetener, does this count as my "plain" water?? Does this make sense? I know green tea is good for you and since I'm already drinking warm water it seemed like a bonus to add the tea.

    Does anyone else do this???

according to the rules, it doesn't because once you steep the tea bag into the water, the water becomes tea, not "plain water."

#9 on page 230 of DANDR 2002 states:

"You must drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral or spring water (not seltzer). You may also have unlimited amounts of herbal tea (without sugar), but these do not count toward your total of eight glasses."

      Sorry , tea doesn't count.

You are not supposed to count tea or coffee with caffeine, but there is no reason not to count herbal teas. The reasoning is because caffeine dehydrates you, so you need to drink extra water to make up for it.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I drink water + a slice of lemon in the bottle.
It's still plain water .. yes?

Also... remember that coffee and tea do have carbs. A common mistake (which I made for weeks) is to not count the tea/coffee carbs.
