  • Totally Frustrated....

    Hey there...

Pretty friggin' miserable today...just frustrated. I keep losing the same 2 or three pounds over and over...I can't be destined to weigh 260 for my whole life, can I?

I've been so careful with my carbs, my fitday percentages are spot on, the K-Stix are purple, hitting the eliptical and treadmill almost every day and sweating my *** off...

And still the scale does its two-pound see-saw routine!

Now, let me say this: If I never lose another pound(which I'm sure won't be the case) I wouldn't abandon this WOE and go back to the carboholism...I feel just too good, physically speaking. More energy, skin good, clothes comfortable...

So yeah, I know, I know...losing inches and all that happy-crappy...but I'm still 34% body fat at 262-265lbs. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

Do I cut out the cheese? Increase the cheese? More fat? Less Fat? Do I have to quit my job and work out at the gym four hours a day? I can afford to do that for a few months if I have to... WTF???

Losin' it, (but not any pounds) in New York...

On any diet, the same thing generally happens to me as well. I lose very well for a while then reach a point where it seesaws 2-3 opounds over and over but never goes down substantailly. And that is wehre i have usually quit. When I did Atlkins last time, I saw my best weight loss overall before reaching that point but that time still came. i found my only way to get past it was to go back to the very basics. Cut out the cheese, cream, etc. and stick strictly with meat and the allowed vegtables. At lease until you get past that road block. And if you can't get past it check your calories. I know most people do not believe in checking calories, but Dr. Atkins said that while you don't have to count calories, calories do count in your diet. If you are losing fine there is no need to count, but if you are not, I would keep that in mind. JMO

Yes... a menu would be helpful.
How long have you been losing/gaining the same couple of lbs?

          Re: Totally Frustrated....

yeah, that see-saw is pretty common for me, and like the other comment, I have always fallen away. this time I'm so committed that nothing is going to deter me. I said in the original post that if I never lost another pound I wouldnt go back to the evil carb demon, as I feel too good right now.

I've stepped it up at the gym, started weight training in addition to my cardio. My calories are typically under 2000 a day and I've limited the cheese substantially.

I've decided not to weigh in for a week or two...(which is soooo difficult for me)...so we'll see if it makes a difference when I get on that scale.

You know, I've set some reasonable goals...not all-fired "I'm gonna lose a hundred pounds in three months" like I might have been in the past. I've learned through addiction-recovery that it's not what we do occasionally, for a little while that effects changes...it's the stuff we do...one day at a time over a longer period that makes a difference. There are no quick fixes.

So I'm here, and I'm not leaving before the miracle happens.

          Thanks for the replies

I as well appear stuck. I havent lost a pound in 5 days. Carb intake is right on, I'm doing extended induction. I am stumped as well. However, I feel the same way and will continue to diet the Atkin's way. Hopefully the weight will begin to slide off. God Bless, Joe

Just wanted to let you know that we're here for you. I know how frustrating the scale can be. A loss of inches is wonderful, but I still do want to see a loss of pounds (as anyone does). No advice...just wanted to let you know that we know what you're going through and it's NOT easy!

If you've stepped it up at the gym, it could also be that you are undereating and your body is holding on to the lbs for that reason. Just a thought.
