  • Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

    Hi All,

I am soooooo frustrated!! this is now week 6...I had 20 lbs to lose....and I've deliberatley stuck to induction. However, I've only lost 13lbs!!!.....I've been stuck for 8 days, what am I doing wrong?

It took two weeks to lose the first 2 lbs....! i've done the metabolic resistance thing, I was on HRT, thats what caused the gain in the first place. (I'm off it now and the weight gradually started to move). Surely I should lose something?

    HELP!! PLEASE.
    Jac.

From where I'm sitting your loss looks pretty healthy to me. Stalls are normal. If you keep going at more or less the same rate it will only be a month or so to your goal - that doesn't seem too bad! Just hang in there.
    cheers,
    Sue

      Hi Sue,

Many thanks, if stalls are normal, I'll hang on in, I must admit, it's an easy diet, maybe I'm just impatient?

Since you have so little to lose, why don't you go up the carb ladder and find your CCL? I've heard many reports of folks that have stalled staying at Induction level and they add 5 carbs of vegetables per day to the 15 they were eating before, and they lose again.

I understand you want to do it fast, but doing it smart and long term is better.

            Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Thanks to all for responding, I'll take your advise about increasing the carbs a little, I'm just not used to being overweight...but as long as I get there in the end it's worth it, ( I miss my fruit)

Re:excercise, although I've recently had a major operation, I had no option but to take it very easy for a few months, however, I still go to the gym 4 times a week, we live in a very small village next to a river so often take long walks and we are self employed restoring a 400yr old farm house, lots of pysical work! So I don't think exercise is the problem!

            Thanks again,
            Jac.

As you have already lost 13 pounds of a total of 20 you need to lose I agree it is time to start the great OWL adventure!!

Dr Atkins suggested we should have done OWL and moved to premaintenance when we have between 5 and 10 pounds left to go and you only have 7 more to lose!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Hi All,

Once again you've been great. I have increased my carbs......but
15 days and I'm still stuck!! Apart from the fact that I may spontaniously combust through total frustration...therefore disperse all the weight in one go!...I'm just trying to be patient, I'll keep at it....however, has anyone else stuck for this long? or is my body just being stubborn and awkward??
Hope everyone else is doing good!!

Bye for now, I'll hope for some inspiration.
                  Jac.

Wishing you lots of luck. This has always happened to me too on any diet plan. I lose quickly for a week or two then stall for quite a while. I'm sticking with it though and starting jazzercise this morning. Sounds like you are already excercising though. All I can say is hang in ther e I know from past experience it eventually will come off if you stick with it!

                      Re: Arrrgh!! Frustration!!! I'm Stuck???

Make the move to OWL soonest! You don't have much left to lose and you need the time to experiment and find out how various foods affect you. You also need to find your CCLL/CCLM (critical carb level for losing/maintaining).

Yes, stalls are perfectly normal. Also, the less you have to lose, the slower the lbs disappear. The last few pounds can be the very devil to shed, but once you've hit goal the actual weight loss phase will seem to have passed by in a flash (even though it seems very slow now).

                      Hang in there!

                        Hi All, Me again,

I've done what you all suggested and have increased my carbs, I've lost another 2lbs in the last 4 weeks......if this goes any slower I'll be in reverse! I never heard of a 'diet' that takes so long. No..I'm not finding it hard and I could easily use this eating plan for the rest of my life, BUT, I just want to lose the weight first. I know I seem to be constantly moaning, actually in fact, I am constantly moaning, SORRY! I'm down a dress size and now that I've lost 15lbs I have deceided to change my goal....from 20lbs to 28lbs, that means that I am now looking to lose another 13lbs! I must be a masochist??

So on that note, wish me luck as I do you! Maybe sometime in the next decade I'll have lost it! (My mind, as well as the weight!

At least with an increased amount to lose you will now have time to climb the OWL ladder

What extra carbs did you add, Jac? What rung of OWL are you on now?

                            Hi Again,

I added average 5 carbs, probably noit enough but I'm finding it tough to find things to add apart from tomatoes and extra veg. I truly can't eat large amounts or anything in one go, as I mentioned before, I eat more on this than I did before I started. Do you think I could add some fruit? Other than berries?

(you're really very good at this! thank you.)

                            xx

So you have added more veg - that means you are on the first rung. One good way to add more veg is to add something that cooks down a lot - like spinach, peppers, onions etc, so you are not having to eat a large quantity. I often saute chopped red peppers in butter and spices and cook it till it is only a small amount and top meat or other veggies with it. It makes a tasty garnish or sauce.

The next step if you are still losing will be to move to the next rung and add something like cottage cheese, or milk, or yogurt and see if they affect you adversely.
