LASIX (feurosimide) water pills & ATKINS

Is there anyone here that takes this med and still doing ATKINS?

If so please tell me how you are doing with that, if not please tell me why.
I know water retention goes way down while doing this WOE so I am concerned that I will do somethign wrong by taking them into the induction. Maybe it'll help me lost more in the first 2 weeks. eh who knows. I don't expect a fabulous loss like I had last time although I am back to my original weight so we'll see.

I would ask my doctor before I discountinued the medication. What condition do you have that you've been given a diruetic?

That being said, Atkins is a natural diruetic diet. Combine the diruetic effects with a diruetic and you could easily become dehydrated.

You really should place a call to your doctor.

It is prescribed solely for water retention because I had an inch deep dent in my shin when i pressed it due to terrible retention. feet and ankles were so swollen with water that it was uncomfortable to walk and was putting pressure on my muscles. Also had so much retained water in my back and shoulders that even that was uncomfortable. I was stupid and ate A LOT LOT LOT LOT of doritos in the span of 2 weeks. My own fault but jeez i had no idea a person could become a water balloon

Defintely contact your physician and ask about it. Better to be safe then sorry!

I would not attempt it if you are not taking a prescription potassium with it. You are sure to lose a lot of potassium, both from the diet and the lasix, and will get horrible muscle cramps. Your heart is a muscle--the combo can be very dangerous. Ask the doctor first. My doctor only gives me lasix with prescription potassium, even when I am not doing Atkins. Maxzide is potassium sparing, but lasix is not.
