  • Just need to vent

    Hi,
If this is not in the right folder please move it to the right one!! I signed up about a month ago and have not started induction yet. Told myself I was going to every day but I did not. I want to but I am so worried about screwing up this program. I read all your posts and when you are on track it is great. Seems like a answer to my weight loss dream. Eat all that great food and you lose weight. So...what is stopping me? I should just not worry about failing, it is worse not trying. Maybe I am being to hard on myself. I don't know.... I just want this to work for me. I can't keep losing and gaining weight. I want to have before and after pictures. I want to feel good inside that I am doing the right thing for my health and body. I should use the boards more for support.
Thanks for reading and I am going to start on Monday May 5. That will be my day. I have never picked a day and typed it on paper, so this is it. No turning back!!!

Hi Maddie! You've set the date and that's the first step. Congratualtions!

May I suggest that this weekend you shop for some Induction foods and have them ready to use. At first, you'll need to plan your meals and it might seem like it takes some time, but before you know it, selecting the right foods will be as easy as falling off a rock.

I wish you all the best! Keep us posted on your progress!

      Hi Maddie,

I agree with Creek here, you should contemplate your menu for the next two weeks, and go to the groceries for what you need, and if there's something thats not in the list for induction that you crave...GET IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT, FRIDGE, and PANTRY! although im not one to toss food in the garbage myself, you can perhaps donate them to a shelter and help the needy , its easier said than done, i know, specially i dont know your living situation, whether you have family or roomates that you share the fridge/pantry with. If you're by yourself then its easier...just get rid of all those induction illegal foods. hope this helps! and I support you and congratulate you for taking the next step to your goal!

You set a date! Good for you! Take this weekend to plan meals and workouts. Trust me it makes Induction sooo much easier if you know exactly what you are going to eat for the next 14 days. That way you know you are getting the correct amount of fats, proteins, and carbs. Good luck on your journey, I look forward to your updates! Stay strong!

            Re: Just need to vent

I know how you feel, life. I was so afraid of failing when I started that I cut back on carbs for a week before I started induction. I didn't track my food during that week, but I probably had 100-150 carbs per day down from around 300-400. Imagine my surprise when I lost weight! I don't know how much you have to lose, or if you are as much of a carboholic as I was, so I don't know if you would have the same experience, but for me that was motivation enough to get on board.

Take the other folks advice and plan what you are going to eat. Check out the "Low Carb Menus" forum in the food section of this board. There is a sticky that has a week's worth of menus for a clean induction. Maybe you can use that or modify it to suit your own tastes. If you don't have the book yet, check the stickies at the top of this forum for a list of legal foods for induction.

Good for you to finally commit to taking the plunge. Just remember you can't fail. If you are obese, you have a metabolism problem and every carb you cut from your daily intake is making you healthier.

              Maddie,

You sound just like me before I started induction--I did a lot of reading on here and also read the book and then I just decided--December 1 is IT. I did cut out diet soda for about the 2 weeks prior to induction and started chugging the water ahead of time. Then, I stocked up on induction friendly foods and just did it. It was a great decision for me and I am so happy I did it.

The folks on here are great with support and answering questions so make sure to visit here every day.

When you get to the end of your rope tie a knot in it and hang on!

                Re: Just need to vent

Hi Lifestyle, You talked about how you delayed so long, how you were worried about screwing it up and how you were afraid you would fail. I wanted to switch that around a bit because I'm wondering if it's possible that you are also afraid you will succeed?

Our weight, although we think of it as the bane of our existence, can also be a comforting thing. It's a useful shield against emotional pain, especially that of rejection. I had a thought that perhaps at some level you might fear the loss of that convenient shield and that might have been a factor in your procrastination.

I'm really glad you've set a date and I just thought I'd throw that out there as something to think about. I think that knowing ourselves as well as we possibly can increases ours odds of making this truly a lifestyle change.

                Good health to you.

                    Re: Just need to vent

Thank you all for the great advice and very kind words. I am looking at menus and food choices and going shopping tomorrow. I do think it will be easier with the right food on hand and the carb food gone.

You did make a good point Grant, I do see some truth in that. Easier to blame the weight for my problems then look inside myself.

Off to read more of the book and make my shopping list. Once again thank you everybody for giving me the extra believe in myself that I can do this without fear.
