  • Hood Lo Carb Milk

Saw some old posts about it but felt like bringing it back:

Lately I have been enjoying Hood Low Carb Calorie Countdown Milk as well as chocolate milk. Finally they carry this in my supermarket! Figured to try it after hearing good things. I was skeptical that it would taste like cardboard but It's really great! What does everyone else think of it? Here's the nutritional info:

I could not see the ingredients listed for them, so make sure you check that all ingredients are allowed for the phase of Atkins you are at before deciding to use them.

If they contain milk then they would probably be 'legal' for an Atkineer once they reach the 2nd rung of OWL as long as they contain no other OWL rung ingredients.

For you who are at rung 9 I am sure that as long as they give you no blood sugar symptoms they will be a good addition to your menus.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

When I was on Atkins before, I used a little bit of this a couple of times a week along with unsweetened cocoa powder and Heavy whipping cream to make hot chocolate. it was very satisfying and didn't cause me to go out of ketosis. But I kept it pretty limited. It does list 3 carbs from sugar a serving, but I don't know if that is natural sugar in the ingredients or not.

None of the supermarkets in my area carry the Hood products anymore (for at least a year--or more!)

But as Elizellen said, read the ingredients to make sure they are appropriate for your phase of Atkins.

Frankly, when I got to the dairy rung and I had to use milk, I just used the regular whole milk. But then, I don't particularly like drinking glasses of milk as I did when I was a child. So 5 net carbs of milk (about 1/2 cup) for recipes or for things like oatmeal was more then enough for me.
