  • Help...Fell Off the Wagon

I started Atkins 3/07. Was very successful losing over 45lbs in 6 mos.
Unfortunately, my Mom passed away in November 07 and the stress and void that was left (only child) helped propel me to excuse myself from the attention that Atkins WOE required. I put on about 12lbs.
Anyway, I am ready to get back to this and was wondering if it is advisable to go back to Induction or simply modify my existing (bad) diet?
As usual, thanks for the great help this board has always supplied.

First of all I'm very sorry to hear of your loss ......... losing a loved one is the greatest pain a person can endure. If you've been off the wagon since November I would start over with induction clean your system of all those bad habits and get a fresh start towards eating right! Good luck to you and kudos for finding your way back to this WOL

It's certainly understandable that you lost your focus. Please accept my heart felt condolences.

I agree with hrgillespie, and if it were me, I'd get back to the basics by completeing the two week induction. You need to get your body switched over to burning fat again.

      I sure wish you well.

Buddyjay, I'm sorry for your loss.

I would also suggest starting at Induction again. Great job losing the 45 initially! You are in a better spot having only gained 12 back instead of 45+.

        Good luck!

I am so sorry to read of your loss Buddy and can quite understand how it knocked you for six!

How glad I am to see that you have decided to get back onto the WOE and continue your Atkins journey.

I too agree that you will probably find that doing a short induction period will get you back into the groove again. Unless you want to do a complete 14 day induction maybe you only need to get back into ketosis and rid yourself of any cravings then get back up the OWL ladder.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I'm very sorry for your loss as well. And yes it is understandable that you lost focus for a while. Its ok though...we have to let ourselves greive however we need to when we lose a loved one, especially our mother. I'm glad you're ready to get back on track...just think of your mom watching over you, and how proud and happy she'd be to see you healthy and happy
