    OK - as I said in an earlier post - I had a bad weekend. But...Monday I ate 8 gr of carb; tuesday the same. Today 14. Yet - no ketosis. While I'm no huge believer in regularly checking - that struck me as odd.

    My food lately:

    1. Cheddar omellette for bkfst.
    2. Burger on plate for lunch.
    3. Tuna over romaine for dinner.
    4. Salad-snack.

    Water and a few cups of black coffee (or espresso). That's the deal.

    Does that sound strange?

    You're not eating enough carbs. you need to eat 15-20g a day, not 8. Your body is in starvation mode, regardless of how full you feel. You will be retaining fat rather than loosing it until you start eating properly.

    You also need to drink 2l of water and up your fats.

      How are you judging whether you are in ketosis? I could never make those pesky sticks change colour at all!
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

        Don't stress the ketostix... for many they don't change and are a guide only. Lots have reached goal without them ever colouring.
        At first glance, I too would say you need to eat more, and get in your three cups of veggies too (ideally, two cups salad and one cup "other" veggies, spread throughout the day).

          Did you have trouble getting the detosticks to change prior to your bad weekend? Atkins says if you are metabolically resistant you will have trouble getting them to change at all.

          It doesn't say how much water you are drinking, but you need a lot to flush everything through. Also I kwould agree you need to follow the recommended veg. for yur own good in every way! And it does look like an awfully low fat menu except for the burger. Good luck.

            You're not eating enough carbs. You're supposed to be consuming 18-20g a day. Remember Atkins is a LOW carb plan not a next to nothing carb plan. Make sure you're drinking at least 64 oz. of water daily and eating your 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of "other" veggies.

            Ketostix don't work for everyone.

              One thing to remember is that if you have overindulged in carbs, your body will take the a certain amount of the excess and store it as glycogen in the liver - a sort of quick reserve. When you get back on the wagon, that reserve has to be used up first before you can go into ketosis.

                Yeah I agree with the others, I dont think you are eating enough carbs. Sometimes I go through spurts where I feel like I am not eating enough and of course I dont lose. But then I go through spurts when I eat more then normal (usually around TOM) and I get on the scale and I have lost! So my advice would be eat the total amount of carbs that you are allowed, dont cheat yourself.

                    I would suggest adding more carbs thru veggies and also to mix those veggies up, it seems all you were having was romaine lettuce and lettuce, there are soooo many wonderful veggies we are allowed to eat, give them a try!!

                        Thanks gang. 4 days of patience; more carb; more water sounds perfect. Sadly, my Mom was just hospitalized w/a stroke. Hospital food at midnight after not eating ----carbo central. I'll need to reset starting tomorrow. Her prognosis is good - but this will be long. I was caught in extremis w/o any low-carb planning for two days.

                        Anyway - 'tis tomorrow to rebuild. I'll adopt all your good ideas. I'd been succesful enough at Atkins that one forgets the "restarts". These were all good ideas.
