  • Cups

Please excuse my ignorance with this question - how big/ much is a cup and what is the right way to measure by cups. I assumed it was like a teacup but I might be wrong so I just need to check since I'm not used to measuring in cups and loads of guidance is given in cups so I better be clear on what I'm doing and get myself a proper cup!

How do you measure accurately with cups. For example - bell peppers - should you cut them up into small pieces or slice them? Spinach - loosely packed or compressed? Is there a general weight associated with a cup?

    Re: Cups

There is a good thread on the 14-day induction forum where Soliwit compiled a list of the weights of all the induction veggies for one cup and parts of a cup for us.

She got this information from the USDA database which is here http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/

You can look for the weight per cup of most foods there.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Oh - I didnt answer your first question!

One cup is 8 US fluid ounces of liquid (8.36 UK fluid ounces) which is 16 tablespoonsworth and equals approx 237 mls according to my conversion table.
