10 is possible, it's probably leaning toward those with low metabolic resistance. If you look at it as losing 2.5 lbs per week, then 10 lbs per month works.
I think if we are following Atkins as he wrote it down in DANDR, whatever we lose will be the healthy amount. It is not like this is a crash diet or something.
The individual amount will wary a lot. It will depend on factors such as how much you have to lose, gender, metabolism, activity, age etc.
I am older, female and I have thyroid issues. I think when I was done induction I weighed 151 pounds over the next 4 months I lost 17 pounds. That would be an average of 3.25 per month.

It all depends on the amount of weight someone needs to lose and their resistance to weight loss. It also depends upon the amount of exercise you are getting. 7-10 pounds a month could be attainable. Just follow the outline in DANDR 2002 and you'll see yourself shrinking
As others have mentioned the more you have to lose the faster it goes at first. I lost quickly the first few months (7 to 10 pounds) but it has slowed a lot since.
