  • I've Fallen and I can't get up

    I've fallen off the wagon...3 cheat days this week and they've been fairly major. Cookies (about 8) today; pizza (2 slices) and desserts from a work party yesterday; and something earlier in the week that started this slide.

    Help...where do I go from here? I was only on day 4 of OWL....
    Start date: 5/12/08 Totally went off the wagon
    Restart date: 11/10/08
    Currently: Restart Induction
    Stats: HW 216/205.6/170

    Goals:
    M/G #1 - 210 - NOV 13, 08
    M/G #2 - 199
    M/G #3 - 189
    M/G #4 - 179
    M/G #5 - 170

    Pick yourself up, brush yourself off & don't beat yourself up. Meconium happens~~~it's life. So go back down to Induction level for a few days, drink plenty of H20 & detox. Then go back to your OWL rung. Dig out your DANDR book & see what Dr. A has to say about cheats & getting back on track.

      ozlover, great advice. The only thing that would add is to sit down and think, meditate or write about what started this. If it was a one time cheat I would be prone to thinking it was just about missing the food or the comfort that food represented. But it was a slide for you. When I first started OWL and saw the weight coming off it was really scary. Things were changing and it was causing all sorts of emotions to come up. There were several times I came very close to cheating and it was never about the craving or the food. For me, gaining weight was a protection the the though of that being gone... whoa. If I wasn't fat then what was I. If I could succeed now, why couldn't I before. Taking control of your weight is scary and journaling is a great tool.

        Girl, I did the same. Last night I went bowling and there is NOTHING low carb on the menu! Of course I should have planned ahead, didn't have much to eat all day. I had mozerella sticks and a corndog and some of my b/f's fries! BAD! And then today I had lunch with my mom and got a Presidente margarita from Chili's with a turkey combo. Double BAD! However, I did go grocery shopping today and stocked up on all low carb goodness so that tomorrow (Sunday) I can start fresh and clean It happens, it's life, let's get going back on Induction!!!

          Thanks for the encouragement. It's grocery day so I will stock up on everything that I like. I tend to get caught in the "well I screwed up here so I'll just keep eating everything I want today..then tomorrow I'll get back on track" It's an excuse to fill up on my favorites (anything with sugar) and then be "good" again. Bad cycle and all too prevalent in my life.

          Interesting enough it has happened twice. Always right after induction. Now I'm prepared...I need to make a plan for the next time. Like living on this board during that time, perhaps!

                just start right now, the past is the past and we can't do anything about it.
                start right now and do your best ,everyone falls down, no one is perfect, we are all mortal.
                You are worth it, it will get easier.

                  I won't even mention what heavenly dessert came into my email today from the Hershey Kitchen's website. I grew up near Hershey, Pennsylvania and it's a problem....

                  I know, I have to resist. I fell off again yesterday but I'm ready to make it through today!!!! I CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

                    Also as quotidian said, try to think about what was the trigger for your bad food choice and see if you can work out a way to avoid being in the same situation/place/company next time.
