Re: Reverse Atkins?
losetocruise, i wouldn't say that hubby is really reluctant, i know if it wasn't for his extremely serious thyroid condition, he would be on this woe with me. like i said, he doesn't want to change his eating habits completely until he has his first appointment with his endocrinologist(sp).
unforunately, he doesn't have an appointment for another 2 weeks. we've always done this woe together, and he's always had great success. his thyroid problems has made him pretty sick, nothing like his usual self and he just needs to wait for a doctor's approval before starting on this plan.

I'm sorry, I think i badly mistated my response to you. I do understand that your husband's "reluctance" is based on medical reasons. My youngest daughter has the opposite problem from his with an underactive thyroid and I know thyroid problems can be somewhat difficult to correct. We did not realize what was wrong with her and it was misdiagnosed several times. She was extremely sick before they confirmed the thyroid problem through blood tests. Hers took about 6 months of medicine adjustments before they got it to the proper level. I'm not sure how they correct overactive, but I wish him the best with it.
My concern was your saying that he is enjoying your atkins meals but supplementing with junk food etc. My husband did this before I persuaded him to do his low carb version of atkins and it scared me, because I think eating the Atkins way and adding junk food, (sugary stuff, potato chips, etc.) is much worse then not doing Atkins at all. This concern also applies when people on the board report "cheats". I think they often think the only harm is a stall in their weight loss, but I think the effects it has on blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc. can be greater.
Take care. Hope your husband is stabilized soon!
