  • Question on Fitday and bacon

So when I fry bacon I always fry my eggs or my veggies in the bacon grease. When fitday calculates the count for bacon do they take in to account the grease or do they assume it's being drained off. I did a search for bacon grease and nothing came up. Anyone know?
    Thanks,

    Susan

I'm pretty sure they count it as drained. They probably would be shocked that we fry in bacon grease and use it to season veggies like green beans and cooked greens--especially if you grew up in the South! I just count bacon grease as the same as lard. They would have the same fat content. Lard is rendered pork fat, just like the fat that is left from frying pork bacon.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

I use the "bacon grease or meat drippings" selection.

I also use the "lard" selection when I don't use bacon grease (which is processed) but use fresh rendered pork fat.
