  • Help I have hit a plateau

    Hi Everyone,

Here are the facts. I am 44 year old gal. Tomorrow will be the start of week 7. I decided to stay on induction as I feel good and I am enjoying the challenge. I eat reasonable portions (pork chops, shrimp, salmon, tuna, eggs, steak, chicken) I take a multi vitamin and as much water as I can handle. I am not a water person.
I started at 188 and by week 4 I was down to 173 but I have been stuck here for three weeks.
I started walking about a week ago and feel wonderful. I have so much energy that one day I didn't walk and I missed it.
When I started induction was constipated and now when I do go (every other day) I have the opposite happening.

So now you have the facts. Do you have any suggestions as to why I have plateaued and any ideas how to kick start the process?

    Thank you,

    Fennela

    Hi Fennela
Do you eat any veggies? Maybe if you could give a more detailed menu and tell us how many carbs you eat, it will be easier to come up with some suggestions.

Yes off course I can give you more details.
      Daily:
I have 2 onces of parmisian (sp) cheese and 1 once of cream cheese.
I have 3 table spoons of cream.
I have a salad of 1 cup lettuce, 1 cup spinach, 1/4 cup scallions, 1/2 cup of cucumber and 1/2 cup of tomatoes (not at the moment). This totals the 3 1/4 cups of salad allowed on induction. I divide this salad and have half at lunch and the other with dinner.
I will about every three days have 1 1/2 table spoons of real mayo to make tuna or egg salad.
Once a week I have 1/2 an advocado.
I do have coffee in the morning (instant).
I only have the herbs on the induction list.

I do not eat any processed food.

If you go to the Misc Forum and look at the Most Memorable Posts you will find a great thread on Post Induction Stall Syndrome. Check it out. It may explain a lot.

Many of us have experienced what you are going through. My own weight loss pattern is always 3 - 4 weeks of no loss and then a 3 to 5 pound drop. It is **** to be patient that long but I finally figured out that is just the way my body works. Hang in there.

You menu looks good. I would also try some different veggies such as green beans or broccoli. Also cheese sometimes stalls me but that does not seem to be your issue here. Hang tight, the whoosh will come. Keep up the water as much as possible and do what you are doing. It will happen although it will make you nuts til it does.

Also, measure yourself--you may be losing inches if not pounds. The inches lost will help keep you motivated til the scale decides to get with the program.

Thank you so much, very informative.
Oh I am not at all techy so I do not know how to do my stats.
I started at 188/173/130 is where I should be.

Hang in there. We all reach our plat's and eventually you will work around yours. So long as your maintaining, you are doing fine. If you start gaining weight, that's where I'd worry. Keep the faith. God Bless, Joe

Maybe it is time to up your carbs a bit. Some people find that as soon as they start OWL they lose again.

Here is a thread Zarabella made when she increased her carbs and started to lose again.

For Me....I'd consider a few things that have helped me.

                      1. Cut down on your dairy.

                      2. Pop up your water intake (I know.....I know....just do it).

                      3. If you are ingesting caffeine somewhere - cut way down or out. I have posted a bunch of times that caffeine never affected me....but I recently cut it out and it made a humongous difference.

                      4. Lose the tomatoes entirely (they are a fruit).

                      Best of luck!!

                        Hi everyone,

Wanted to give you an update.
Today is the start of week 7 and I got on the scale this morning and I am down 1 pound. I am very happy about this.
Also this morning I re read the book. It helped me focus and understand that I have only been eating from the salad list (4 cups) not the vegetable carbs because I was intimidated by only having 2 cups of salad and one cup of veggies.
I have questions about how to fingure out 1 cup of broccoli but I need to find the right board.

                        Thanks again for your support.
