    Hi Nu-me33,

Why are you getting super hungry! eat! hamburger, make and ommelette, fry up a breakfast, there is no reason you should be hungry.
You should eat something every 3 hours.
I think you are craving other stuff because you for some reason do not think you should be eating wonderfull yummy, shrimp, egg salad, roast chicken, hamburgers, grilled salmon, tuna cakes........

I am on week 6 of extended induction.

i crave things like that too, i think its just natural to crave what your body cant have. if you stick to it, after a while i stop craving those things.

        Re: super hungry

i was just craving toast with jam, and cereal.

Instead, i put a fillet of salmon on the george foreman, set it for 8 minutes. 8 minutes later i took the salmon off, piled it onto pieces of lettuce, added a little mayo and sliced tomato and had salmon lettuce wraps. SUPER good, and now I'm not hungry anymore.

In fact, it was so good, that as i put my plate in the sink, i licked my fingers and said outloud "yum", even though no one was around. haha

            Re: super hungry

what happened was my husband was grilling some ribs on his pit. he started super late and i didnt want to eat without him. kids had eaten red beans and side meat. we were just waiting on our grilled ribs. had a 1/2 cup of pork skins and 2 cups of water *which normally works, but went to gym and it didnt help much. he finished at about 8:15 and i had grilled ribs with asian cabbage and lettuce salad. hey, not hungry anymore. eating every three hours not feasible for me. i think the extra workout is what did it i think. i normally work out twice a day on mondays, tuesdays, and fridays, but i decided to go twice a day monday through friday.

                Re: super hungry

. not asian cabbage, but fried cabbage and onions; from Linda's website, but i just made it a spicy fried cabbage and onions by adding 1/8 tsp of red pepper flakes. sorry. first i fried down 2 slices of turkey bacon in a tsp of olive oil, once the bacon was almost crispy i added the coleslaw shredded cabbage(the recipe doesnt say to use this, but it was all i had), and onions until the cabbage wilted down then you add salt and pepper to taste. this was my second time making it, the first time was better because i sprayed the pan with butter spray and add a tsp of olive oil, i also let the cabbage cook down more, it was to chewy this time. by the way, linda does have some type of asian cabbage recipe. this is it, in case you are interested

                SPICY ASIAN CABBAGE
                2 tablespoons oil
1 medium onion, slivered, 4 ounces
12 ounces coleslaw mix with carrots, about 6 cups
                1 tablespoon soy sauce
                1 tablespoon oyster sauce
                Dash pepper
                Pinch crushed red pepper
Heat the oil over medium-high heat in a wok or very large skillet. Sauté the onion for a few minutes until it starts to soften. Add the cabbage and stir-fry until it wilts but still has a little crunch to it. Add the remaining ingredients and toss to mix well.
                Makes about 4 servings
                Freezing not recommended
Per Serving: 96 Calories; 7g Fat; 2g Protein; 8g Carbohydrate; 2.5g Dietary Fiber; 5.5g Net Carbs
I was making Thai Pork Lettuce Wraps and had most of a bag of slaw mix left afterwards. I didn't want the cabbage to go to waste so I came up with this recipe by just throwing some things together in the same wok that I'd cooked the pork in. It's very good and tastes a bit like the filling in an egg roll but with a spicy kick from the pepper. Click the photo to see a close-up.
this is the recipe i attempted to make:

                FRIED CABBAGE & ONIONS
                3-4 pieces bacon, chopped *
1 pound cabbage, coarsely chopped, about 1 small head
                1 small onion, coarsely, 2 1/2 ounces
                Salt and pepper, to taste
In a large skillet, fry the bacon until almost crisp. Add the cabbage and onions to the skillet; cook and stir until the cabbage is wilted and lightly browned. Season with salt and pepper.
                Makes about 6 servings
                Freezing not recommended
                * Use 3 slices of bacon if thick and 4 slices if thin. Per Serving: 41 Calories; 2g Fat; 2g Protein; 5g Carbohydrate; 2g Dietary Fiber; 3g Net Carbs
                its alot of stuff, sorry.

                  Re: super hungry

For supper I had a seasoned hamburger patty (from the big W. store, 0 carbs as per box) with 0 carb garlic and herb cheese melted on top and on top of that I had 2Tbs. of green salsa (2 carbs) with 3 slices of bacon and 3 stalks of "A Spare Gus" as the kids call it. It was filling and yummy too! I was amazed at how carb cheap "A Spare Gus" is. And I topped it off with a citrus tea...0 carbs. So, if I get a junk food junkie craving I have low carb ice cream... 4 carbs per 1/2 cup (Rocky Road!!!) Right now I am satisified, but if it hits later I still have 12 carbs left for the day.

                    Re: super hungry

Back to the OP's questions about hunger.

Hunger, especially in the beginning, can be about a whole bunch of different things. When I first started, my body would send me HUNGER signals when it was actually THIRSTY. Frequently when we are pumping our bodies full of garbage...especially SODAS or sugary beverages, it gets really confused about what signal to send to us. Plus, our brains don't know how to interpret the signals.

So, if you're getting a "hunger" signal and you've recently eaten, then try giving your body some WATER. If, after you've consumed the water, you are still feeling "hunger", then by all means EAT. Eat something FATTY though. The fat is what is going to satisfy your hunger. Boiled eggs are a great snack. A fatty cut of meat is also a great choice.

As for craving carbs, you're only 18 days in. Those cravings will subside if you don't cheat. If you cheat, those cravings will stay alive and TORMENT you. One of the things that you should also watch for is to eat BEFORE you get hungry. If you wait until you are HUNGRY, then the brain starts sending you signals for all sorts of things. Especially if influenced visually or by scent (commercials for food, smells of restaurants, etc.). So, don't ever go more than 6 hours without eating something. This will keep your blood sugar nice and even, keep the cravings asleep too.

I try to keep some hard boiled eggs in the fridge. If I get a craving I will whip up a quick deviled egg. It is a cheap snack that tastes rich and staves off the hunger.
