  • I'm getting discouraged! Help!!!!

    This is my second go-round on Atkins. Three years ago I lost 17 pounds but gained it all back plus. I have been on induction for 2 weeks, 3 days and have only lost 4-5 pounds. I only have 25 to lose all together, but I feel like it should be going faster. I checked my percentages on Fitday and they are about 60/37/2. I drink plenty of water but am VERY constipated. Could that be the problem? Also, any thoughts on Atkins Granola or Chocolate type bars - I have not used them yet, but I wondered what people thought. I'm going to keep on going but I want some satisfaction! HELP!!!!!

    Keep going!! You only have 25lbs to lose - it's going to be a slow process. Keep drinking the water, try and up your veggies to help with the constipation (spinach works wonders for some) Whenever I had issues with the doo-doo (or lack thereof! ), I started taking probiotics - now, no problem at all!
    I would stay away from the Atkins frankenfood. Just because it says Atkins on the label, doesn't mean it's full of good stuff. There's a lot of caca in those foods that can be a staller for a lot of people. They can also trigger cravings, so I would say don't waste your $$ on them.

      Try the muffin in a minute from the recipe section. I am its greatest fan, but it clears up the problem and yes that can hurt weight loss.

      However, you hve already lost 20% of your total goal loss. WHOOHOOO for you. It doesn't get much better then that! And with such a small goal, it probably will come off slowly, but it will come.

        Also, I "hear" lots of people on the board talking about moving to owl can help you lose faster, which seems odd, but for some people its just the way.

          Please remember that the second time around the lbs dont come off as fast, go to the forum of second time around club and look at the links that are there and it will explain to you why weight does not come off as fast. Try Flaxseed in your water or in your meals or physullum husk (I think that is how you spell it) Those two help me a lot I drink the Flaxseed everyday and it has helped flatten my tummy from it bulging out so much and beleive me I had the tire after tire after tire-LOL
          Great job on your weight loss. I am also a getting back on after losing 37lbs but I have learned after this being my 100th time around that it takes time. I know it is hard because I would get so upset since the scale was not moving fast enough for me, but then this time around I feel better and my skin is not so oily or my hair, look at the other benifits just besides lossing weight.

            I get my psyllium fiber from Metamucil capsules. I hate drinking the fiber drinks. A couple a day help prevent any problems. Even if it doesn't cause a whoosh you would certainly feel better. As for loss, it is your second time around and you don't have a lot to lose. Both of those things can make it go slower, as can age. You have loss twice as much as I did the first couple of weeks. Have some patience. It will happen.

              Your lucky that's all you have to lose. If I only had that much to lose I wouldnt be discouraged in the least. Anyhow, best of luck and stay focused. You'll do fine. God Bless, Joe

                I am the bad girl I use the "Frakenfood" I have a sweet tooth sometimes that if I did not I would just go nuts and off of the plan. However, I count all of the net carbs. and not the 2g they say to count. The bars are generally 8-10 carbs that I count. Also, I like to have sweets through out the day soooo. I take my Frakenfood bar and cut it into 8 pieces and then I freeze it. So when I need a sweet I take one little piece at 1 carb. it has done the trick for me so far. My daily routine is I take an Atkins shake and equal water and mix now I have 2 shakes for the day, then I take 3 ice cubes and my Magic Bullet and mix and drink slowly. I generally have some turkey, hamburger cheese and a small vegetable serving. Ice berg lettuce of all things makes me stall so I use alfalfa sprouts as my salad 1 cup= 1.5 net carb. Also, check your intake of A/S some people react to them also. Good Luck hope it helps.
