Just for curiosity's sake. I just celebrated one year on the Atkins program and DAMN do I feel good. I was just wondering if it gets harder over the years, or it just totally becomes second nature to you?

Re: How MANY YEARS have you been on this LIFESTYLE?
I have been Atkineering for 5 years now and think I have got used to this way of eating now, so dont have too much trouble sticking to it.
Nowadays most of my friends and family know what I eat and won't eat so there are no tempters saying 'just one bite won't hurt'.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Re: How MANY YEARS have you been on this LIFESTYLE?
I'm close to a year now and am totally used to this WOE already.
Had a few slip ups, not cheating but getting addicted to food that contained aspartame lol and I had too much potatoes once but I know what I can and can't have, I read my labels, I drink my water, I'm good.
By now everyone I know is aware of my WOE and even my boss at work who is gonna organize a big x-mas party has remembered to tell the caterer that they need to have sugar free dessert

Re: How MANY YEARS have you been on this LIFESTYLE?
2.5 years for me.
I'm pretty firmly rooted in my low carb lifestyle. Most of my friends/family no longer ask me to eat stuff (as Elizellen pointed out) and that makes it a lot easier. The longer I stay away and don't cheat, the easier it is to stay on plan.
Now, that doesn't mean that everything is rosy and picture perfect. If I go back to eating sugar and flour, I'll have IMMEDIATE and DRAMATIC weight gain. And it does not come back off immediately nor dramatically.~Joy

6 years, 5 months. 5 years+ on lifetime maintenance. Absolutely second nature! I would never eat any other way.
Dr. Atkins SAVED my life and restored my youth! My birth certificate may say 52 years old, but I feel like 30 !

Re: How MANY YEARS have you been on this LIFESTYLE?
It is really good to hear that it totally becomes second nature for the most part. I was @ a party the other day and there were some ice cream with hot chocolate. I couldnt bring myself not to eat it. Not because I would feel guilty after. It was because it sort of made me sick just looking at it.[B]Started: March 2007

Look at you! You look fantastic!
I know what you mean about the icecream. I look at the carbage and sugar filled junk and it turns my stomach just knowing how toxic it is for me.
Keep up the fantastic job you're doing Hydro! Great to see you doing so well!
Sincerely, Sherri

Re: How MANY YEARS have you been on this LIFESTYLE?
Hi - I've been on since July 4th 2002. I lost 110 lbs on Atkins taking me from 310 to 199lbs on Christmas 2003. I kept the weight off and stayed from 210-215 until last summer where I decided to eat more carbs due to some confused thinking and added 20lbs. Now I'm 230 and on back in induction and feel fantastic.THINKER!!
