  • A TMI question.......WARNING!!

I normally go #2 every day.....sometimes more than 1x a day. Since I have been on this WOE (5-25-0 I don't. Not even close. Now I go every 3 days.....maybe.
My question is: Last week I had a big weight loss after a big......you know what. This week I have hit a stall. Do you think the same will happen again? A big weight loss after a big..........?
I have been eating on plan with no cheats......unless almonds as a treat once a week counts as a cheat, that is. AND, I use ketostix and I have been in major ketosis. (yes I am drinking enough) So I have no reason for a stall.

    WDYT??

Chamie, Don't worry! This is a common topic on the board! First of all, you're not really in a stall if it's only been a week! Give it time and stick to the plan just like you are and it will work for you! Secondly, you probably will notice a difference in weight after a big "you know what"! But you might want to try something like psyllium husks to keep yourself regular so you will not have to have periods of being blocked up and then big "you know whats"! I get really constipated on this WOE but the husks work like magic and I feel so much better since starting to use them! Good luck and it sounds like you're doing great!

      Chamie,

I had the exact same thing happen to me this morning so you are far from alone. I think I will try the psyllium husks like Amy - gut magic sounds good to me.

your problem almost kept me from going back to Atkins this time around. it is the only negative thing I have ever found about this WOE. But the muffin in a minute does the trick and tastes great too. Lots of water with it though! and yes it should help with the weight loss.

I ate induction style for 4 days, lost 3 pounds. Then added psyllium husk in the morning for 3 days, and gained 4 pounds. boo...

Are you guys eating your veggies? Sometimes a body is happier with that form of fiber rather than adding something else it your diet.

I concur with Lyssie. Are you eating your 2 cups salad veggies (not just lettuce) and 1 cup other veggie? It makes a ..huge..no pun intended...difference. Also you could add some flax. READ DANDR.

Also, Dr. Atkins recommends magnesium oxide and vitamin C for constipation, both of which also help with blood sugar control. Magnesium helps with sleep and tense muscles that cause headaches and cramps.

If you are not taking supplements, you need to start. Not because Atkins foods lack vital vitamins and minerals, but the 'diet' you were on for years that led to you gaining weight.

The other reason you don't 'go' as often is that there is much less undigested food in your intestines. Meat turns into liquid when it digests. When you eat properly combined foods, there is less waste to eliminate. If ketosis is working properly, you are not as hungry and don't binge eat anymore.

Just eat your veggies and supplement and drink lots of water and you will settle into a new 'regular' pattern. If you do Atkins right, you will have made many positive changes to your eating habits and it will take a while for your body to get the idea that this is for life and it needs to get with the program.

Look for some veggies with more fiber. If you use fitday, you can track how much fiber you are getting in your diet. Hang in there, you will 'work it out'. LOL
