  • Question about sugar

Hi there. I have a question about sugar. I just found out that some dressing that I had this lunch time has 1 carb and 1 gram of sugar in it. This same dressing was used to marinate some meat I am having for dinner. What are your thoughts will it knock me off track??????? How bad is this?????

    thanks

    Re: Question about sugar

check the actual ingredients. If it is added sugar I would avoid it, but would not personally toss the marinating meat! It may be naturally ocurring sugar. If the ingredients list sugar, fructose, corn syrup, etc. then it is added sugar. Natural sugar in samall amounts in unavoidable.

      Re: Question about sugar

Almost all commercial salad dressings have some sugar in them. Because we use so little at a time, most of us continue to use it for conveinience. As for the marinade--even less will be absorbed into the meat and most will cook off, so I wouldn't throw it away. Make sure you pick the dressings with the least carbs and sugar that you can find.

I have started making all my own dressings and marinades and it takes very little time and I make small enough batches to use up in a few days. All that junk and preservatives that they add to bottled dressings tend to make a healthy salad something not so healthy. I still on rare occasions use bottled Caesar dressing , but even it has high fructose corn syrup in it, which is very unhealthy.

I keep on hand lemons, limes, rice vinegar, cider vinegar, sesame oil, olive oil, canola and peanut oil, and I can whip up a tasty dressing in no time at all and it has no sugar or preservatives in it.

      Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
