  • Kinda Messed up....but weight fell off

Ok - So I've been running on the rules of induction for a week....and lost 10lbs!!

But yesterday I was at an all day fireworks event. I ended up eating raw vegetables from the trays - but had some almonds and hazel nuts and some almond butter.

Anyway ---- 2 more pounds fell off and I'm still in induction. This completely caught me by surprise. Anyone have a similar "nut & veg" experience?

Yes...BUT...it is not a excuse to not follow the rules. At least you didn't totally blow it. I just warned another fellow who had a cheat and got away with it...

Be careful...this how falling of the wagon can start! You cheated...you got away with it...nothing more dangerous than cheating and getting away with it. Now you are thinking...hmmm...maybe I can do this once a week or once a month...then it turns into twice a week or twice a month. And pretty soon, you won't even be aware that it is happening...but you will be having more nonlegal meals and days than legal. Been there...done that. Just a warning and just my opinion. Best of luck! "

I highly recommend you start climbing the rungs. This is a very important step in learning what your body likes and dislikes and ensures you a greater chance of success. I will be starting rung one tomorrow...hope to see you there!

Most of the time, for me, it takes 2 days to show a weight gain. I'll lose the next day and even though I'm really good that day I'll show a weight gain from my cheat 2 days ago.

As cheats go, it could've been a whole lot worse. Good that you're now back on track. Rest easy... it doesn't take long to reach the nut rung of OWL.

I'm like susan... if I overeat, it takes a couple of days for that to register on the scales... likewise, if I'm particularly virtuous.

I agree wholeheartedly with Elsie's advice.

I will say though that Atkins said it is inevitable that people will go off plan occasionally. he also said it is much better when that ocassion arises to eat something healthy even fruit over a candy bar. and your "cheat' was still pretty low carb.

But most important would be not letting it get you carried away into repetition.

nuts and nutbutters are allowed on the nuts rung, you didn't stick to the rules of induction, but I wouldn't say it's a completely unacceptable 'cheat'.

If you are really stuck eating a higher rung food is still a better option than going off plan completely, though to avoid this situation it's a good idea to prepare in advnace next time by bringing something legal that you can have.

After you finish your second week of induction it's a good idea to start the OWL phase....

Cheating is where you eat too much peanut butter like I did. I worked out for an hour because I felt so guilty. I am doing better today

Peanut Butter might as well be crack to me. It is dangerous. That's why I keep the almond butter around. It is much lower carb and not very sweet.

                Well.....I returned to clean eating.

Though - it has been sometime since I was on induction. This return has been really eye-opening. Stuff I'd forgotten. The hardest thing, though, is to keep an emergency snack. A pocketful of almonds tends to work best on other rungs.

I was pretty impressed. Despite my Almond Affair - it seems that the Ketostix never stopped turning pink.
